always make a clean install when coming from a store bought PC
well you would move your files over to your pc
or
make a new folder for your git
just move the project to the C:/unityprojects or something
delete any old Git folders, and gitignore and start new
(make sure Show hidden files and Folders is on)

also to reinstate dont move all of your files over to your pc, you can if you want but it may cause problems

if you added the gitignore from the wizard it should be fine
double check its contents if you want
but if you dont see the Library folder in the commit then you know it worked

A totaly other questions. Do you guys know of a good workflow with making maps in blender and getting them to unity and still use github?
well make the map then export them as FBX or OBJ format into unity
then commit if not to big
ofc with all of the textures
I prefer using Probuilder for this
when you are ready to finilize the meshes, then you can clean up in blender
this way you spend less time during iteration/grayboxing. Exporting each time you make a change is painful

maybe export half your project or something, 23,000 files is a ton of work for your router to be doing
all in shot maybe depending on speed/sizes
exporting isnt the most painful thing when using blender for maps, its usually texturing

you can delete them via going into the repo and going to settings -> delete repository which is all the way at the bottom

for my github problem. can i split the assets folder in 2 or more? i tried puting one folder up at the time but both my assets folder and library folder is giving me my internet loss thing after 90% im starting to think it might be something inside somewhere that is fking it up

library is something that unity creates automatically, since you have a ton of objects its creating a lot of stuff to do whatever unity needs
you dont need to import it at all

no i made a own assets folder in github folder. and just took half the folders and tried to commit them.
this happend in the desktop right after i moved them
if you move assets it will say it deleted them
but it will say you added assets back into a folder

yes it does it says i lose connections. i dont know how to use command line interface:P i will have to watch tutorials on that and make 100misstakes before i can try π

CLI basically uses GIT BASH which is a command line to commit items
its very easy to do

hopefully that can give you better indication of where it goes wrong

i created a new repo now that worked fine. but what now? there is no more commands to use.
I meant you didnt have to make a new repo from blank, i mean make repo from your project just maek sure the delete the .git folder in there (its hidden)

its not the commands in it self that is confusing. its the whole way of doing it that is confusing
all yyou're doing is using an app without a Graphical Interace (GUI)

just remmeber git is for the repository (keep track of the project forchanges)
so its not really the terminal and the command lines that is confusing. its all the other "normal computer stuff"
github is just a cloud hoster for such repos
imagine this software all its purpose is to track your project and its files for changes
when the changes are detected it tells you about it, then its up to you to commit the changes, then push the changes
I'm just assuming the github desktop app had a hardtime for some reason with your current project
but also I noticed some of your assets name are incredibly long and have lots of spaces and () , it could be cause of issue for commit
oh so next i maybe i should use _ instead of spaces on names for armor that doesnt show to the player. and only spaces inside whats actually shows to the player

i believe this commits, your second and third pictures are saying to track a file to be commited, the last picture is saying you added another repo inside an existing repo and the existing repo doesnt know what it is

From what im seeing, I believe the best bet for you is just to make a entirely new repo using a tutorial and importing your project quarters at a time since it is so big, just next time please set up git first then make a big project so this doesnt happen again, navarone probably has a tutorial suggestion as well since he makes them so you can watch either, this is the one i started with
