Version Control, as in the error message you posted
shit happens and unfortunately UVC is not the most stable of products
you working on this with a team?
Yup as 2
then they probably have the same problem
Ill ask
I would expect something when paying for it huh
(We currently do pixel art, so not going over the 5GB threshold)
tbh I took one look at UVC and said 'no fucking way'
You're using git?
yep
Is it as simple as "pushing changes" as UVC?
yes, if you use something like GitHub Desktop it's real easy
similar
that is what I guessed
I kinda get these problems when using gluon
I feel like using the standard version was less problematic
Okay funnily enough my colleague was able to send changes
tbh as you are no doubt in a rush, best thing you can do is abandon this project and create a new one from your backup
problem is with UVC is it's not self healing, once corruption has set in to the change requests/commits it can propagate down when you least expect it, I would not want you to lose your project to corruption
Just to be on the safe side, assume that whatever is in UVC now for that project is suspect
yes
could be anything, network glitch is favourite
Network glitch? That doesn't seem too good. Does that occur when working with an unstable internet conncetion?
yes
Do I want to delete the library in the copy? Heard Unity just rebuilds it for the neccessary stuff
absolutely
definitely, that is the local repository which will be corrupt
Anything else?
Temp
Good call
you might also want to delete the .sln and .csproj files as they will be rebuild with the new project name
should be in that folder
Oh
I know why
Only saw folders, not files
Well too late
Lets see
if this works
Is there any reason to pick one over the other?
Old project used Gluon
I would go for the first one
Well that seemed to work fine for now, was able to push all changes
just make sure your team mate updates as well, he will need to pull into a clean project
Yea he will load the project via the add button in the Hub
perfect, best of luck with the jam
Thanks a lot for your help and your time!
I wondered how experienced you are in Unity/Coding in general, like how many years you've been at it etc
me? 50 years system design/developement, using Unity since it started
I've been on/off developing games for ~3 years now, which is still not too much tbf, considering the amount of games I've actually completed
Oh wow, alright, glad to have you on this discord!
Don't be too happy, I'm a very grumpy old man and very easy to piss off
You sound very young and too nice for that to be true!
(Just clicked on one of your videos)
rofl, I wish
take my advice, switch to using Git in the future
No, you really are very nice in my reality and I have a lot of respect for those who know so much!
I feel like it's a year long journey of trial and error to make projects fast and readable
Most people would disagree with you, I do not suffer fools gladly if at all
If the only contacts we have are in a good mood, you are always a good mood person for me!
Also you helped me and even converse with me afterwards, I'm sure you are not just some grumpy old man, I respect you a lot.
You seem like a sensible person with at least a functioning brain, that already puts you in the top 1% on this server
I take that as a compliment and it's just that I realized, a lot of my future is determined by what I decide to do each day. I'm in a very productive Game (Jam) phase right now, as we realized what we're missing after missing the deadline for the polymars x spacejam game jam and I gotta say, I am really enjoying this and envisioning myself as some kind of pioneer in like 20 years for some kind of VR/AR/Deep Dive Technology and not abiding the gaming industry, but making actual educational content in the form of interactive media. Maybe this vision helps me focusing on tasks and seeing my position as someone learning from the knowledged and respecting their time.
20 years is a very long time in the tech business, 20 years ago we could not have imagined the AR/VR tech we have today, 40 years ago we could not have imagined the Phone tech we had 20 years ago and what we have today is just 'magic' compared to then. Do not expect tech in 20 years time to be anything like what we have now
You're welcome, nice to meet you and, once again, good luck.
