Hi Guys! I have just finished making the movement for my first unity game, and I thought, since my game is a platformer, I would get some feedback on the movement.

My game is named DeepCore, and the plot (which I am fleshing out now) revolves around a boy searching for his taken dog. The lore of the world I am building goes much deeper than this, but I don't really want to spoil too much before it is ready for feedback.
Please note that the visual are just placeholder. I am only looking for feedback for the movement ATM.
Thanks!
Controls:
W: jump
A/D: left and right:
L-Shift: Dash

Abilities:
Double jump, wall jump, dash

Here is the itch.io link :D.

I've tried out the game and this is my feedback:
What I like about the game:

  • You can wall jump
  • Movement feels smooth
  • Walking on a ramp shoots you in the air
  • Double jump

What I'd suggest to change/look into:

  • Walljump is way to high, you can basicly jump against the wall forever. Maybe add a kind of mechanic which exhausts the player or makes it wall jump less high after x times (Like jump fatigue in fortnite)
  • Make also add arrow movement for right handed players
  • Using the dash key was hard, since you're only using the left side of the keyboard. Arrow movement + spacebar might fix that.

I will change it back to space, (it was originally that but my peers recommended that I have it as left shift)

# kindred cedar Ty for the feedback!

Np! Also, shift might not be the best key for any spamming movement/ability. It autotriggers sticky key at a lot of pc's and might frustrate the player

#

shift is a good key for holding, like diving or sprinting or smt

Ok, space is it for dash :)

#

I also think a fatigue system would also be good, and I was thinking of adding it but wanted some feedback first

#

so ty for suggesting it

As for the right hand controls, I do eventually want to have rebindable keys, but I will do it at a later date
