i removed the firewall for unity hub
just found another update, ill keep back in touch when its done updating and i test it out again
There are many more things that would need to get through the firewall. is it Windows Firewall, or a third party one?
windows
ok, that is not as bad then
Install Issue, Norton
@woven arrow yeah i installed all the updates and rebooted, but its still not letting me launch any apps
So, the problem goes well beyond Unity then..
why not follow the diagnostic issues
we already did.
× Detecting whether proxy is configured at the system level...
× Testing connection to UPM via IPC connection...
× Measuring the latency of the latest editor download endpoint...
× Test the downloadability of the latest editor...
× Accessing Unity Services Endpoints...
these ones
If other things do not work on your computer, no amount of unity specific troubleshooting is going to do anything. you need to figure out the core issue first
"yeah i installed all the updates and rebooted, but its still not letting me launch any apps" define 'any apps'
should have worded this better
any unity games
well
orjects
projects
do you know how to use cmd prompt?
havent used it since my 9th grade IT class lol
one sec, testing pings
okay
ok, from Start, type cmd, and open that
ping packages.unity.com
what next
was it successful?
yeah
ok. and you tried reinstalling Unity After uninstalling norton?
when you say you reinstalled Unity, do you mean Hub, or Engine?
ill reinstall the installer too
yeah
the bottom line is, if Norton is fully uninstalled, and there is not another firewall on the computer, this should be working
also, did you use the Windows Progerams and Features to uninstall norton, or did you use the norton specific uninstaller?
Windows firewall is usually not a problem, as long as when it pops up, you let things through
for testing purposes, you can disable windows firewall for a bit. often times, programs like norton, for claimed security reasons, require you to use their uninstaller, unlike other software. there are legitimate reasons

it is worth verifying
Could not find Unity Package Manager local server application at [C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2022.3.37f1/Editor/Data/Resources/PackageManager/Server/UnityPackageManager.exe]. Missing files could be the result of an antivirus action or a corrupt Unity installation.
Click on Retry to relaunch Unity and reopen your project.
Click on Diagnose to launch the Unity Package Manager Diagnostics tool.
still the same error
do you use wifi or ethernet
im current on an ethernet connection
let me know what happens after uninstalling norton with the tool and restarting windows. i use wired
@woven arrow i used the tool and restarted my pc
well, if it worked properly, you should be able to install Unity now
you do Not have a working copy of Unity. you have a corrupt mess
so should i reinstall again
yes
Ok, at this point, there is nothing else i can do. it simply should be working. maybe someone else will see the post and have an idea. good luck
