tried not to use tutorials but get help from my brother when i got stuck

hope i can finish it this might just be an example level that i can build on in the future, so i can make games faster as the mechanics will already be there like the doors and interaction system.

im planning to add a flexible killer AI that i can make a state machine for and maybe expand it from there.

finally, i made my first mechanic for my game, a boarded door. only took 3 days. animations for the hammer arent there yet because im struggling to figure out how to reference objects through different scripts, people tell me different things to use everytime.

just wondering, what is your workflow? how are you managing to be that productive? if i understood correctly, this is your first game right? this is extremely impressive

Yeah this is my first proper game, ive only really messed about just learning C# before and ive done a bit of level design in the past so i have basic skills in those areas.

i dont really have a workflow to be honest - if you really wanted one, i usually just come up with an area to create and make it and polish it fully before moving on.

Well to be honest i like dread more but my friend convinced me otherwise w Black Earth because he was going all on about success in indie development blah blah, but this project was kind of intended to be more of just a small, cheap-scary game like Nun Massacre. so i thought a short name like DREAD would b fine

i might just make other games along the side kind of like how Stay Out Of The House was developed - that was the big game and there were small ones along the side

Nono, Nun Massacre was released as literally a reskin of Stay Out Of The House because its built off of it thats kind of what i want to do with DREAD

incorporated a chase patience system where the timer ticks down when he cant see you, and if the timer reaches 0 he goes back to patrol mode - this also adds a certain skill level where you need to exploit corners to lose him because hes pretty fast and you have limited stamina

yooo i just realised this goes all the way back to where i started unity

the system is, if the player produces a sound then an overlap sphere is generated that checks to see if the agent is inside of it - if he is, then a function on the agent is triggered called Alert() which handles whether the sound generated was a loud or a quiet one. this is then fed into a state machine which decides what to do - in this case it resorts to a search function i wrote which checks to see what type of sound it is, if its loud then a longer, faster search is completed by the agent of the surrounding rooms and hiding spots. if the sound is quiet then there is a small, low intensity search which doesnt check hiding spots. after the search function is complete, he goes back to his usual rounds.
