#How to go about using Unity VCS and Asset Store packages

Hi all. New to using Unity's Version Control systems. I was wondering what the proper way to go about using VCS and Asset Store packages is?

From non-Unity VC experience, it sounds logical to not include "external" assets, and have other devs download them by e.g. defining them in a package manifest. That being said, I did some googling and didn't find any best practices / guidelines on this.

Additionally, I can't seem to add the external package to the ignored files list? It's in Assets under a "Third Party" directory I created.
