Hi, I'm new to Unity. I was looking for an easy way to map out and draw the world for my new sitcom called 'Convix'. Its set on the prison moon of Enceladus in AD3019. I need force field domes, ice geysers and a run down city of the future. Not sure where to start. I find Cities Skylines / SimCity easy to use to create cities and was hoping for something as easy as that. From video tutorials on YouTube I can see that a lot of people EXPECT you already know how to use Unity. I have used Sketchup a lot for 3D design and its an intuitive program. Unity is not. Please help.

If you're expecting a Game Engine to be as easy to create cities as a city building video game, you're going to be sorely disappointed. I'm not sure what it is that you're looking to Unity for, it seems more like you want to make a 3D model than a game?

That's right. A 3D map that I can easily navigate to plan storylines and discuss with collaborators. Unity is used in film making.

This still sounds more like a Blender thing, especially considering you'll need to create the assets somewhere, likely in a 3D modelling software that you could just build the entire city out of

If you think so, I'll try Blender. Thanks for the idea.

Unity has features like Timeline and Cinemachine that can make it easier to move a camera through something and make a movie clip, but if you just want to place buildings and be able to freely look around it, Blender is probably better for it

if it's not scripted in either the programming or fimmaking sense, it's probably better to use a simpler program for it than Unity

With Unity you can get interactivity and real time effects.
Can get a pre-made multiplayer asset and observe the level in real time moving around, some interaction.
That would be the good use case for it.
