you should check where the actual position of the cursor is

#

in the scene view, select the cursor and make sure that the gizmos appear on the tip of the cursor

#

instead of some other place

#

while doing that, make sure that it says "Pivot", not "Center" in the top left corner of the scene view

#

you should also do the same for the top/bottom elements

okay, I think that's reasonable

#

show me your code again

also, you should make something visibly change when you're in vs. out of the good zone, to make it more obvious if it's working right

aight one sec

#

I have done so and I can confirm. very broken

terse timber
#

oh yeah, one other thought

#

do you have code moving the top and bottom objects?

#

they should not need to be moved at all

#

if you're messing with their local positions, then they could be moving in strange ways

glossy oasis
#

let me alter the code so they don't move

terse timber
#

they are parented to the bar itself

glossy oasis
#

yeah. before when using local position is didn't work right if I wasn't moving the bottom and top

terse timber
#

i guess it all might've shaken out to kind of work

glossy oasis
#

it's working now

#

thank fuck

terse timber
#

nice!

glossy oasis
#

thank man. you're a saint

#

smooth as hell

terse timber
#

but yeah, if you have a thing parented to another thing, it'll follow its parent

#

you only need to adjust its local position to move it relative to its parent

#

you could also set its world position, but that would make it drift away from its parent

glossy oasis
#

right. well thanks man you were a great help

terse timber
#

no prob (:
