#Chess/fps vr game idea

Im thinking of making a chess vr game that has some form of 1v1 gunfight integrated into it, similar to chess boxing, but im split on the two ways to integrate this.

1st way is a bit more complicated. Lets say your piece gets taken out, you can choose call for a 1v1. If you win, your piece gets revived, their piece goes back to where it was, and now it's your turn. If you lose to them however, their piece stays, and now it's their turn. After the fight, you cannot call for another one again till after your opponent calls for one, even if another piece dies.

The 2nd way is set on a timer (again, similar to chess boxing) where you play chess for a few minutes then fight for a few minutes but whoever wins the 1v1 gets to play three turns in a row during chess, only catch is that they can't kill any pieces during the three turns.

I feel like these both have their own pros and cons and I can't really decide between the two. so I'm looking for feedback to see if you guys think one would do better than the other or if I should alter either of these to make them better.
