Well, Visual Studio Code is a bit difficult at the moment.
I can tell you what I know, and you can figure out what you want to do.

#

in short

#

it is still possible to use it, but the official status is that it is deprecated

#

One experienced user told me of his experience on both Windows 10 and 11, that it simply did not work, and he did nothing more, but after a week it suddenly just worked.

#

The only reliable way I have read about, is to use at max Unity 2021.1.something, before some module was upgraded.
Then you might need to download a slightly earlier version of the extension, that doesn't support that newer module.

#

and instead of 2021.1 I would recommend 2020.3 LTS

#

at least for learning

#

but the fast and easy way to fix this, is to simply use Visual Studio Community 2022

#

it is objectively better than VS Code at many aspects, especially until you get a grasp on Unity.
