If you want to tint the sprite is has to be white or bright enough to take a tint

Pickup any of the 2d tutorials on Unity Learn, it will teach you how to work with sprites.

Those were the basic cases I've covered. If you keep getting the same thing after that, you are doing something profoundly stupid which would be covered by any basic tutorial which you should've went through and not waste other people's time.
