When I run the game on my Windows 7 x64 system, I am greeted with the following message:

CellToSingularity.exe - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application.

OK

I'm having all the OS updates via extended security updates, including the December 2025 ones.

Better question why are you on windows 7

Because it is my favorite Windows version. The last one with a consistent UI. The last one with Aero Glass. The last one without phone/metro apps. It's not on all my PC's. But some I purposefully keep on W7 because of the above.

Sadly that's the reality of 7. It has differences from newer OSs (i don't know the details) and developers don't bother with learning about them or accomodating them anymore since 7 is out of support. Cross compatibility seems like a big hassle as it is. Nobody wants to make extra efforts to support a dead (ish) OS.

It's understandable that Windows 7 application (game) support ends or has ended at some moment. Or has already ended. But when I search for the system requirements of Cell to Singularity then it lists Windows 7 or newer as requirement:
