#Value Sorting Routine no longer works properly

It is sorted by value. But that value is the amount of entropy per second you gain from buying one level.
Also, we can see Human cost less than Caniform, yet is placed above, because one level of Human grants more entropy per second
what was it before then? The update clearly changed something about it
oh, i guess the only part that changed is it moved any purchases you can't afford to the bottom. I think that's a bad change - is this a feature or a bug?
From beta patch notes:
"Updated Value Sort: unowned gens moved to the top, unpurchaseable gens to the bottom"
Not a bug but really a downgrade
Cant make an informed decision whether I buy the best value or not like that. unpurchaseable gens should be included and I should be the one deciding whether I wait for the best vaule or not
I see. I don't like this change and I hope they revert it. Or at least provide both options. Though unowned at the top is good I guess.
I don't like it, was better before. Gets itself all confused now as well...
Agree
So, not a bug I guess. It's completely useless now, though.
The sort order has changed, and not just the behavior of unowned and unaffordable items.
It used to be "bang for your buck". If you bought enough of whatever was at the top of the list, it would drop to lower in the list even if you can afford more. Now it will stay at the top of the list until you can no longer afford it
And something about the sorting doesn't make sense. Starting here:
I bought 1 Stone Age and it jumped to the top of the list
Then I bought another Stone Age and it dropped back to third on the list
Odd change. We have slightly less information now about which generator is the most efficient to buy.
I really hope they revert this.
It's definitely not just a change to the ordering for ones you can't afford or don't own yet. It's now closer to sorting by value for buying the max you can afford? Maybe? But not quite. I've experimented a bunch and still can't figure out what it's doing. Confusing things is a separate issue where sometimes when you buy a generator the displayed gain from buying another of that one very briefly jumps to double the actual value, just long enough for the sort to happen. This was breaking things a little bit even before the update that broke sorting the rest of the way.
I think they made it so that it sorts by max value per gen, regardless of how much that gen costs (unless you can't afford it, then it gets moved to the bottom). This feels like something where there could be 2 options for players instead of just forcing one. Except for moving to the bottom, I think they should just undo that.
Moving stuff to the bottom on its own would have been a significant downgrade
But what they actually did makes it completely without utility.
It's the best income per coin value just like it was except anything you can't afford is at the bottom. It's nice after a reset to get back up quicker but I bet much dislike the change.
