Has been like this since forever, only fixed multiples (1x, 10x, 100x) work like you would expect.
The jumping is a feature not a bug, the jumping comes from best normalized cost. ratio e.g. ideas/second gain per idea spent etc.
That changes after each buy. So your bought category must move downward since it gets more expensive with each buy.
The ones jumping up are the ones that get cheaper.
I've never seen the bought category jumping up randomly, always down.
The rest feels quite off in every aspect. The only true optimum works with the 1x setting.
With the max setting enabled each buy should only buy the max amount of the category that's truly the best ratio, not shoot over. That's more like a feature request, but bugs me out too quite a bit too.
