I'd start as late as you can, while ensuring you still get the three badges and a little bit spare.

The Devs have explicitly said that using auto-clickers is allowed, and in some cases they recommend it #💬-cells-chat message. Ofc, you don't have to use one (and I don't), but they are fine iaw the rules.
Similarly with time fluxes, ad boosts and infinity passes. You may not like using them, and can choose not to, but they are part of the game. I do / have used all of these.

I think - as well as e.g. physical problems, it also mitigates the massive penalty that Steam players have (no ad boosts). So auto-clickers - on the whole - increase fairness.
