after spending cubes to purchase sphinx, it remains green and no longer displays anything once tapped on

for me, the sphinx branches from engineering

did you tried to restart the reality engine and get those nodes again?

Collect the Sculpture node, and then see if you can unlock it.

get 25 stone age to unlock sculpture (which is required for sphinx)

I am having this issue with the Dog, Cat, and Money Coin(this one is making me rebuy it even though I already got it before) Nodes, where they are green after paying for them and I can't click on them anymore

dog domestication requires hunting and caniform (mammal glitch that costs 125k metabits, not mentioned as a requirement in the augment description for some reason)
cat domestication requires livestock and feliform (mammal glitch that costs 3e10/30b metabits, which is mentioned as a requirement in the augment description)
money artifact/coinage requires government mints
this is assuming you are not playing the alpha/beta version of the game
