I would rather have the players chose from one of a few 3-5 featured events since you play in virtual cohorts anyway. As a bonus you would get some nice user data on ranking their comparable preference, yet this should be compensated for rank bonus factor.
I'm even ok with some events being retired.
I outright can't stand some slow intermission scaling events (human body, even supposed mini event face your fears), where you have to wait 10+ minutes even with infinity pass on quad speed and some base rank bonus.

A quick follow-up idea, not well thought out yet:
If there are several events running at the same time, being in one event gives you full offline production in all other events.
Makes it viable to progress multiple events at once. Avoids the problem of waiting too long for the next upgrade, since you can do another event while waiting without losing efficiency.

I'm quite casual and rarely get to experience the end of the event. I would also suggest to have the event going for a bit longer. The rewards could be reduced

I think a problem with this would be hosting it, since the explore events are online with their leaderboards and whatnot. The devs would need to just double the servers which would not only be expensive but also it could mean double rewards and it would be harder to stop hackers.

Maybe is it better to let the player choose between the two explorations? He has two choices, but can only do one. Once choosed, the other event is locked and the player cannot change event. This could make more difficult leardboards, and hacks detections, but it deals with servers (no more to buy) and player's choices (the initial topic). It is my proposition.

Radical suggestion: stop doing new events for a while and focus on QoL upgrades and next civ garden (scientific revolution onwards)

Would the players be able to balance running two events at the same time? And what about Season 3, whenever that starts? Would three same-time events be feasible?

1 event is already a lot tbh I wouldn't like 2, I like what other people are saying about choosing an event in this thread
