I have unlocked all other upgrades except these two, and I was able to get the before Middle Ages update, so I am not sure what changed. I tried resetting the simulation nothing changed. First time I bought using by 100x, and the second time I just tapped down and held on Neolithic. By extension I am also unable to get fried bricks
