So the amount required to upgrade generators is displayed differently in different places as seen in the image. It charges a higher amount even though the discount is maxed.
When I click on them to buy one it charges the higher cost than the one mentioned in the map.

We'll even if I don't have enough resources for the things as per the menu I can but it via the tech tree but it makes the star points go to zero
So I think its a game bug and not just a visual

I am having the same bug, for me the displayed cost is exactly 4x the real amount, but if you try to buy it between those two costs then it takes all of your points.
