The issue happens in beyond (android). I can describe and recreate it, it's been a thing for years.

So when you buy a black hole or a blue star the expected result is to have some card copies to upgrade the simulation.

However if you buy multiple black holes or blue stars without upgrading and one of your cards is close to max level then you will stop receiving any cards.

It's because the game keeps applying cards to the one that's already maxed and it causes some sort of counting error preventing you from getting any other cards.

The bar above shows I can upgrade 9 cards even though the cards themselves don't have enough copies to upgrade.

No matter how many black holes I buy those numbers no longer increase because one of my other cards had enough xp to be upgraded to max but because I didn't upgrade it filled up more than max requirement and caused the bug.

Hopefully that's easy to understand, I can clarify if needed

Here is a live example using a blue star, as you can see I have upgradable cards but no rewards being added.

This has been added to our bug tracking system as the issue CELL-2680. As we resolve that issue, updates will be posted back here.

If you want to reproduce it the steps are:

  1. Buy a blue star
  2. Keep buying until you have enough XP to go beyond max level (20) in a card, say several thousand XP more.
  3. Upgrade that card to max
  4. When you next buy a blue star you won't get any upgrade cards.
