Yeah, exactly. I thought that first it was just a bug that would be fixed after the crew got back from holiday vacation but now six days later i'm wondering.

Update. As of today, 2 Dec 23 I still don't have the AD option to get the timer upgrades, etc. I updated, uninstalled, reinstalled. Restarted the phone and the the Ad option worked only 1 time. Is this maybe something that we can no longer do as many times as we want? Or are only given the option to utilize AD's every 30 minutes?

try deleting all remote data, then create a save transfer account, use it to backup your save, and check again if you are still having issues.

Ive done it all. I've had an account since the beginning. I made sure the account was there, deleted the remote data, used the account to transfer the account back.

Same problem. I've deleted remote data, uninstalled, reloaded and it worked only once. Then the ad buttons all went back to the grayed out and won't work again.

If you have an ad blocker or a private dns on it stops the ads so maybe try checking if you have a private dns on on your phone settings

Also have you tried more games? or cells is the only one that behaves like this?

Cells is the only one that will stops the ads. I've downloaded a few other click types to check, & their ad systems work for me.

@scenic crown I'll look into the Ad blocker. I didn't think of that as an issue only because I've been using Brave browser the whole time but maybe they have changed diverging recently. Thanks for the suggestion.

I checked the browser. Nothing in seeing is like to cells.

I've gone so far as too completely delete cells worth the "delete save" function after backing everything up and unlogging out of the account. As soon as i play far enough to get to the ads screen. It is already grayed out. So idk what else it can be. I'll see if i can back up Brave browser, uninstall that, and then try running cells again.

It's all just so frustrating. I've been playing since beta on the same phone, numerous updates to the phone, which is a Samsung S20 5g btw, as well as cells numerous updates, & only had the issue arise on Thansgiving. I might just have to enjoy it with the pay for darwinium only feature.

Go into your phone settings to see if private dns is on or if a vpn with ad blocking features is on. If that doesn't work i dont know what will

Yeah, I recommend checking what DNS address you're using on your mobile to connect to the internet

If you have the duckduckgo browser installed, it has an app tracker protection feature that now causes the ad watch option in cells to break. Just turn tracker protection off for cells and it fixes the issue

Duckduckgo is the culprit. As soon as i turned off the app protection for cells, all the Ads started working perfectly. It is strange though how any of the other games i tried with Ad rewards was still working.

Now to get back in and check the leaderboards.

I just finished downloading and checking a few other idle-click type games, and 1 other that utilizes ad rewards. All of but 1 didnt allow the ad to play while Ddg was actively blocking the App tracking protection.

The issue was occurring on an Android phone, so Microsoft doesn't factor into the discussion at all. Also, @restive plaza I've been using ddg for a few years now and been using the app tracker protection feature since it was introduced and never had any issues watching ads in cells until about 2 or 3 months ago and then they just stopped working. I think they updated their system and algorithms that resulted in the issue.
