Does the Game not Automatically Cloud Save?

I recently had the misfortune of having my phone break and had to get a new one. Upon redownloading the game and restoring my cloud save, it appears that all the progress I had made over roughly the past year had been reset. I have been moved back several prestiges in the Primary and Mesozoic simulations, had my Beyond progression completely reset, and lost hundreds of Darwinium along with the items bought with it. The bigger deal though is losing all my badges and all the Logits and upgrades purchased with them. Is there really no auto cloud save? Am I missing something that would help me find something more recent? It feels like a bug to not have auto cloud saves in a game where progress is measured in real-time months.

I don't know about the auto-save part, but if your old phone is still usable I think you could restore a more recent save

Unfortunately, I was told by the repair team that the old phone was so waterlogged it would cost $700 just to recover the data off a phone worth way, way less than that price.
