When i watch a ad to speed up the nano bot cool down timer. Occasionally the game freezes and I have to close the app and reopen it to unfreeze the game. Whenever it's frozen I can not do anything within the game

Yeah same for me. Also on Android.
And for me it's not only for nano bots or Exploration, but for any ad, like when you come after being offline for example.

I play on iOS and there's a simple fix to this, just go to the garden and tap a few times then come back to the tree, it should be unfrozen

Also in my case it's isn't only limited to nanobot ads, it sometimes happens when I accidentally exit the app while furiously tapping
