If you are talking about the 'floating dots' (top right), then you need to hit a certain amount of whatever you are trying to upgrade (ex. 50 Martian Cities). If it is just greyed out then you do not have enough entropy/ideas to purchase it. @gritty pumice

Does the production multiplier go up after each reset or only after you purchase an upgrade?

I guess reset doesn't increase multiplier. Multiplier increase with simulation level and upgrades. Simulation level influence nonlinearly. In the beginning of the game you get ~1% per total metabits. Later this value is decrease. And in the end it's not increasing (or I just can't detect it) with new metabits. I'm not sure how many metabits exactly you need to rich this limit , but after 1 000 000(probably much less) total metabits i'm sure it has no difference and the only way to increase multiplier is upgrade.

Probably i was too rush to make a disicion. I go throu this chanel and collect some data about amount of MetaBits and multiplier from sim level.As i mention before from the beginning it's look like linear. And every metabits give you 1/100 of multiplier. Than it's change. According to data after ~20.9 (i belive it should be 21 exactly) every metabits give you 1/1000000 multiplier. For 11-21 interval i'm not sure, but it seems like it give you 1/10000 every metaBits.
So, in general, every 10 in multiplier decrease effectivity of metaBits 100 time.
If i'm incorrect, please tell me.

Well... Every new upgrade cost 1.15*previous.
So...
to get 150 martian city you need... 1083 time more then amount to get 100 martian city. or 37 328 236 252.37 oct ... 37 328 decalion. Now i have only 122 city... and i know it less then 3% of sum i need.
As for Martian Settlement... 250 cost even more. more the 50 000 dec
So... when i calculate the time to get it... I doubt than someone have less then 4 achievements...

It's similar to Singularity, Singularity gives a bit more, so when you can afford for example 100 of them, buy them both, it will almost double income. And remember about tech/bonuses reached after you buy couple of them.

Actually there is no many formula.
Price for upgrade level N cost 1.15* level (N-1)
So it's just geometric series.
So you can calculate the total amount of idea/entropy
(price for 1 level)*(1.15^(N)-1)/0.15
As for metabits...
It connected to total idea+entropy
metabits = (Total/1000000000000)^(1/3) (Or just insert total in trillions)
There is some other formula... about sim level...
Not sure whether it still work, but previosly the multiplier increase 0.01 per metbits untill it 11, than 0.0001 per metbits untill it 21 , and than 0.000001 per metbits. But now simlevel is constant, so i'm not sure.
Probably it's all calculation i made...

Ok, it would be disturbing if we would have some leaderboard or multiplayer features. But I consider it cheating, because there's no difference at all, if I change values of entropy/idea by injecting, or by doing time skips, effect is the same - you make a lot of progress without actually playing.
