Because you'll be getting 100k more. If you have less than about 500k already, you'll get a noticeable production boost. If you have less than 10k you'll be gaining at least an order of magnitude more production

@lofty coral spend it on diamond geodes they are totally worth it , i'd recommend spending them on two diamond geodes in level 50 in the mesozoic valley so that you would get the maximum benifit out of it

- hit a wall (it takes forever to get anything new; and
- you're gaining at least 10-25% of your total metabits in this run (otherwise you won't notice a speedup)

You click the 'OK' button and ... nothing happens. There's no way out of this screen so you have to kill the game. Thankfully I've never had it repeat after a reboot

The extra geodes are nice
That said, if the extra 'collect shell' quest will take you too long, feel free to skip it
(I don't do the post asteroid-unlock shell quests after about rank 15-20)
