We are considering using Storybook to build a UI component library at my company? To do so, do we also need a paid NPM account for hosting our packages privately? Or can Storybook do that part as well?

HI @minor fulcrum ! Storybook doesn't do anything special with respect to npm package hosting or distribution. It should work with any registry you choose though!

Can you tell me a bit more about your requirements?

Hi @neat token ! Thank you for getting back to me. Makes sense. What are the top few registry's these days for private NPM package hosting?

Sure, my company is looking to build a component library to make UI development easier for our development team. More specifically, we are looking to build a design system for our product development team (UX, engineering, and product).

Artifactory is the one that comes to my mind, but I'm sure there are others too. https://verdaccio.org/ is something that storybook uses internally during our CI process.
