I would’ve earlier but money
I currently face an unfortunate problem with phasmophobia, where i cant run at full texture resolution... would this be a problem due to the 6gb of vram of the 1060, or the 16gb of system ram
definitely vram
i recommend using #tech-support instead because these are kinda dead
6gb of vram is not a whole lot unfortunately
yeah thats what i expected... guess its time to upgrade ||or just play at half texture resolution||
7800xt reviews coming in, haven't watched all of them but it doesn't look that great as first impression.
Looks meh
6800xt with av1
Prices seem identical
4070 msrp = 3080
4070 performance = 3080
pwr is 1/2 that's all
Yeah they pretty much just re-released the same gpus but more efficient. Which I guess is ok? If energy is expensive that is.
It's meh
I don't blame em. They're just taking the margins from the gpu oversupply
For me it's health issues
I've been eyeing monitors for a while since I'm not really satisfied with my main one. What do you all think of the AOC AG344UXM?
😵💫
I've considered OLED too but after thinking about it I don't trust the technology enough for it to last a really long time.
Yeah, the main problem there is that most companies don't even provide burn in warranty
Dell does with their qdoled ones but even then I don't think it's worth it. It's just dumb to get something that will end up getting burn in. I do lot of desktop stuff and I play mmos. It's a recipe for disaster.
considering that phones can have always on displays and that TVs last well over 5 years before any sign of burn in (newer ones) I'd say it's pretty safe to get an OLED, but personally id go for QLED if I'm unsure about burn in
my uncle got burn in on his Samsung s6 edge only like 2 years ago, so like 6,5 years of playing sudoku on max brightness. and even then a quick burn in fixer app cleared it almost all away
Those have beenbuilt with OLED in mind,, desktop still has to catch up. It's why it has automatic pixel refresh and you have to hide the taskbar and do all that kind of stuff
Its a real concern here and I don't want to bother with all that stuff
I think the tech is really interesting but it still needs to cook and it's why i've been looking at miniLED
well yeah, thats why i said most
Oled should last a long time. I wouldn't worry. If within 3 yrs there's any funky business the company will cover you under warranty
Alienwares monitors have fantastic oled warranties
I don't care about the warranty if it is going to happen, I do a lot of stuff that remains static on screen and i'm also close to a window so the brightness could be a problem. It's why I'm looking at mini-led. I want something that will last me a long time without any worries. Sure I won't get the color contrast but LCD is tried and true so
I'll take the risk on oled. Early tech had issues, modern tech is far better
I plan on going oled in a couple years
y'know i think we've gotten away from the main question of "What do you all think of the AOC AG344UXM?"
Idk
so yeah that did nothing
Did you boot into safe mode and run DDU?
yes
Ok
Describe your issue, what are your specs
just putting it out there, pretty sure its a ground fault. many times where a spark happens anywhere in my room, usually from my chair or me putting my feet on the floor, my pc gets a gpu driver crash and windows just nukes my gpu drivers and i have to do a clean install of my gpu drivers, DDU aint fixing anything and all it lets me do is use my pc until next time it happens. i have a 5950x, 7900xtx, 32gb ram, x570 gaming-e mobo and corsair x1000psu
im fairly certain its a ground fault but its the most stupid ground fault ever cuz it only happns with my gpu drivers...
good heater for winter this thing
Oh nonono.... You know 14th gen will be good when the first minute of GNs review is shitting on them
Looks to be basically the same as 13th gen (not including 14700k increased e cores) with higher power draw
ah yes... massive gains
uuhhhh i need a tiny external ssd with good sustained write speeds (roughly 2GB per second) and big capacity that's USB c and not tooooo expensive
and a like tiny short HDMI cable that's 2.0a minimum
Are you asking people to find one?
I'm open for suggestions
just felt like sharing the high standard that i need just to be able to record proper video
cuz it's such a high bar
2gbps ez. 2 GB/s is greater than most docks/dongles will do.
for 2GB/s you need a 20gbps usbc port, which is rare
10gbps (1GB/s) nvme adapters are standard, and more than fast enough for most ppl
You can do that with 1Gb/s dock
what capacity do you need?
I rec 1-2tb. 4tb is expensive
the camera has a usb3.2x2
2.5GBps
don't need it for pc transfer but for video recording
if I'm not wrong, the maximum output can reach 1.9GBps
with a big B
I've been looking at the wd black p40
are you recording full raw unencoded data?
no?
well not rn but when i get an external monitor i will
this doesnt help me , i know what i need i just need help finding a good reliable ssd
You want this one
Are you recording raw video onto the ssd?
grab this one or similar
You need a 20gbps 3.2 g2 x2 to hit 2GB/s transfer
again, not now but when i get an external monitor, i will
Wdym "external monitor"
if I have more details and context about your situation I can likely better assist you
my camera has a monitor but it's small and dim, so imma get an external one that's bigger and brighter, and it can record raw, straight to ssd
u got more than enough
dont overcomplicate things
Ahhh, that makes total sense now. Thank you
but again, the need is a slim ssd
2280 ssd
Could you specify "slim"?
WHat monitor
what form factor
To insure compatibility
i mean it just needs to be a normal external ssd dude
i know what i need, that not what I'm asking for help with
i said my criteria, i just need help finding something that fits as close within those criteria as possible
youre making things so complicated for no reason
@somber timber can you actually help or nah?)(

I won't continue to help after that no.
I don't like when people are rude to me.
you act like i don't know anything I'm talking about and side tracking massively
you're really difficult to ask for help and get actual help from
it feels as if you're trying to help yourself more than me
i can understand asking questions to better understand what someone needs but i literally told you exactly what i need in the very first message
I needed additional information to help you. "big capacity" "not too expensive" and an odd requirement begs for additonal context. It's common for people to want the wrong thing, in this case you were spot on but other people will have arbitrary requirements that isn't what they want or need.
The first mesage was insufficient and "external monitor" confused me even more as most of the time one doesn't record from a monitor. Certianly not a specifically external monitor. After you added the context It's directly from a camera it made sense.
I will not be helping you again as you are paimfil to extract required context.
external monitor only came up cuz you asked about raw encoded data, the first message included the read write speeds i needed, that it was external, size and a very rough price. more than enough to make a suggestion. you asked many questions that does not help in this scenario. you overcomplicated the task resulting in you confusing yourself. i already know from previous experience directly with you and through feedback from others that youre impossible to get help from because you expect everyone to not know what they want, and you cant read people at all.
this is solely on you, i mightve been hostile but that cuz you couldn't take a hint that i knew what i wanted and what i was talking about
raw data isnt a problem cuz storing it is like any other file, opening it is the only place that can make for problems, but thats on me and not on you. i have worked with raw footage for years.
Made using square space
Them thread ripper are good
Planning out a cyberdeck, anyone have a good 48v 5ah battery recommendation for something that can charge inline?
My brother is big into VR chat. He currently has a 3070 and an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X and says that he still feels bottlenecked after the upgrade to the 3070 from a 580. Is it worth just upgrading to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with the current price or does he really need to move to an AM5 platform? That would involve a new CPU, Mobo, and (to my understanding). DDR5 ram since he wouldn't be able to use DDR4 on AM4. Money isn't that much of a problem, but he's not terribly used to building PCs so I'd probably have to rebuild it for/with him if it was anything more complicated than swapping the CPU and installing a cooler(I live 5 hrs away and won't have time this holiday).
the 5800xed would be a really nice upgrade. If cost its a restriction go wit hthat one. If the budget allows for it maybe getting a new generation ryzen would be the best idea
They also asked on the Antvenom server and I mentioned looking for the 5700x3d instead since it's close in performance while cheaper.
Hi, I am new here. I picked up on a conversation about the AM4 X3D CPUs. Both the 5800X3D and 5700X3D would probably cause my mobile VRMs to overheat, but I do not see many gains with the 5700X3D is it gain L3 Cache but has slower stock clocks
Never chatted in here before so what’s good. Got a pc build I’m cooking up. Wanted to ask for advice if anything needs to be changed
(Parts I have in current rig and will reuse)
Motherboard: gigabyte B550 UD AC
CPU: AMD ryzen 7 5700
(Parts imma buy)
Ram: 4x of 16gb OLOy DDR4
GPU: RTX 4060 3x wind force fans by gigabyte (will be replacing my 3070) purchased!!!
SSD: KingSpec XG7000 2TB ssd PCIe gen 4
Power supply is an 850W
I need help with getting PC components, it's the first time I'm doing it using some used parts but I'm having lots of trouble with it
I'd like to get a used 4070 Super for less than 610€ (shipping included), on eBay it's very difficult because most of the GPUs on sale are sold with the auction-like system, so I've tried on Wallapop like three times, but sellers either don't send the GPU in time or cancel the order
Does anybody know how Wallapop works or if there's any other good place to get used PC components?
Country?
Yeah I thought I would have to say it, it's Italy
Zero clue for italy :c. if it was Spain maybe but not there sorry
Does anybody here know about building custom keyboards?
I'm asking it because I want to build a low profile custom keyboard with a 75% or TKL layout and 3D printed case and plate, the PCB is gonna be tray-mounted. I found this PCB for 50€ [https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005001790634059.html], is it any good for this price?
That's about what I see on stuff like kbdfans. By the way, may I suggest looking into Choc compatible pcb instead? They are low profile switches. Not as much choice in term of switch but worth a look.
Do you mean that Choc switches require a PCB specifically designed for them?
Anyways I was already thinking about getting some pre-lubed Gateron switches, either linear or Hall Effect
The pin sockets are different so they would need something designed for it yeah
I care quite abit about upgradability and compatibility, so I guess I'll go for standard sockets
👍 just mentioning it since they are purpose built for lowprofile keyboard
If they make the build much thinner they might be interesting, even if they don't seem to have hall effect switches
Seems kinda expensive when there's similar but bigger boards that are like 35€
Finding the right PCB is so difficultt
