#Name changes can be used to grief with rematches

We were just in a game were after we rematched, they changed their names to me and my 2v2 partner's name, which was extremely confusing.

The names should not be updated in between matches, only when you initiate matchmaking/return to the main menu.

The names in-game are the same names in the Steam user profiles. Please report them in-game with the ❗ button and report their profiles in Steam (the griefer ones, not the original one of your partner).

You also may have to open a ticket in Steam if you see that they keep the names for griefing.

Yeah I reported them, thank you!

I also figured that there is some sort of steamID->name lookup that happens when each individual match is starting, and I guess my proposal is to not do the lookup and just remember the names we first saw them as. I imagine it could be implemented as a dictionary cache of SteamIDs to names, so if we already saw someone's name once during that play session, we don't need to do another steam API call to resolve the most recent profile

yeah i guess that’s the only work-around, but i’d still prefer if people couldnt change their names around.

i turn all-chat off in games too, and i was very happy to see there wasnt any chat in this game, but people can BM via name changes now hah
