I love playing sable... when my deck agrees with me. Sable's biggest problem is movement speed changes. If your opponent ever pops movement speed up or down and you do not have a counter (or a weapon card) it feels like you already lost that round. And if next round the same thing happens, GG. I think a neat idea is maybe buff her passive to start with a katana AND katana now deflects bullets. This will mean you're still pretty hard countered by high rate of fire guns like the grasshopper and FK BUT you can at least poke them back with some good deflecting then hiding to reload. The deflect can take in account where your crosshair is so you will have to aim it like a normal weapon and can get headshots. I think it will make this character insanely fun without making her broken.

I think I'd like more if sable threw the katana as a projectile on reload after blocking.
The only way to really deal with katana outside of waiting for them to stop blocking is to shoot it (not counting card-based counters), so if shooting it actively hurts you that’s just screwed up :p
Being shot should be the weakness of a melee weapon. Making a melee weapon strong at both close and long range is just bad design.
Yes. I've brainstormed a few ideas on how that could work. Some sort of projectile with the blade itself would be really fun to use. My idea behind it was to simply double press reload, maybe even at max durability and you'd eject the blade and grab it so when you next press the shoot button you'd throw it as a projectile. This would also be better to balance since you wouldn't be able to block while it's ready to throw so you'd have to think what would be the best approach to an engagement, throwing the blade or trying to get in close
Plus that would encourage players to not have block up for 90% of a round
