As the title suggests, Sable having the katana is interesting and i feel should stay her main thing, but there are issues with her being at a disadvantage in nearly every 1v1 match. She needs some type of ranged ability as well, maybe throwing knives, or even throwing the damaged blade while reloading to use it as a projectile (possibly even letting her reload while at max "ammo" to be able to throw at any time) and on top of that maybe have it so the thrown blade does more damage at higher durability.
Something like those options would still fit her character while also allowing her to take on characters like haru that are just direct counters.

Yes but there is cases where you may not draw any guns
I feel like the blade throw would be a fun mechanic.
Thinking more in depth, one way it could be done is maybe by pressing the reload button twice in quick succession instead of just scrapping the blade, you grab it with your left hand and hold it ready to throw the next time you press the shoot button.
Obviously you wouldn't have a blade in the actual katana itself, so you wouldn't be able to block with the blade ready to throw, which would add more to how you approach combat, be more defensive and block or ready the blade to throw at your rival incase they try to keep their distance
or holding down slash charges it to throw, or a seperate bind that switches stances

then it would force you to possibly retrieve it if you so choose to throw the full katana, throwing a dull blade will just make it shatter on impact
I mainly thought of this as a really cool way to play off the animation, since you eject the blade itself, why waste it when you can throw it at the mouth of anyone who tries to stay at a distance.
