#The barrier to entry to this game will kill it.

People will buy this game, get beaten by people with better cards and refund it.

#

While being an incredible concept, cards hold too much value, especially the high tier ones. Especially since leveling up since to be taking so much time.

I am not bad at shooters but I have not won a single game yet. We should all get a free card pack on start so we can remove some bad cards that just ruin matches.

just have to play smarter save cards to counter ect

Would be great if I could play against others stuck with the starter deck though.

I think it needs some matchmaking or onboarding/tutorial.

I keep getting peanuts for losing so it will take too long to get a single deck.

#

having some extra cards above the min would help too so we can make sure we do not get some

yeah there definitely need to be some better matchmaking so level 1s don't get pitted up against lv 15s and such

I kind of agree with the original commenter. You guys should look into the game Storm Bound. It's free on steam and the app store and it's a turn based card game that has a REALLY similar card system and this game could learn from SB's mistakes and victories. The game probably has 150+ cards and you level them up to make them stronger. Yes, the game rewards veteran players by having stronger cards than the new players and people on r/Stormbound complain about not being able to progress in the game because of it.

maybe there could be a playlist for new players only like up to level 5 or 10?

they are working on better ways to get lower levels to play each other, they said its based on levels atm and they are going to add more factors

nice

but i dont think the system is working very well

In SB, they use a ranked system where each rank has a capped card level. So anyone playing in bronze can only use the level 2 version of their card even if they own a higher level than that.

#

New players still struggle with not having the newest cards, which are could be better because of power leaking (in some cases). But making cards accessible at the start of a player's experience might be important. This doesn't have to be done using card packs either. Arcade game modes could expose new players to cards they don't own while also giving them money to buy packs. New players could also just have a unique series of tasks to complete that reward them with card packs until they hit some sort of mile stone like level 2

#

But this is a real concern and something that has happened in other games. I wouldn't discount this opinion at all, considering that the game depends on the card system being fun or else risk losing it's main selling point

The hard thing is without a huge player base yet is those matchmaking thresholds will be all over the place. I guess they need to find the balance of huge queue times and a fair game too.

If the card pulls are truly random then couldn’t a level 3 still pull a good card anyway? Or are there some good cards level locked too?

As much as i enjoyed the premise of the game, card games have always had issues with this, and the only way to get newer players is by matching them with the same power level decks as them. My friends and I know this from playing MTG and it doesn't matter how well you use your cards, the starter cards are worse than many of the other cards that you unlock

Hi, thanks for this. Whatever you do please don't split the players into different divisions. Splitting the playerbase never goes well. The simple way to match players is by KILL/DEATH RATIO, regardless of "levels". Levels are a terrible way to judge a player's actual performance. I'll say that again louder: levels don't mean anything. K/D should always always always be your starting point. (New players should be considered to have a K/D of zero.)

Hopefully the matchmaking thresholds will factor in the queue times too not be too restrictive until the player base allows. Whatever logic they use will need it to factor in wait times. There's no point sitting in the top ranks with no other players, and visa versa for newer players aswell.

Splitting them for 5 levels is barely two hours of gameplay I think they'll manage

Level based matchmaking don't mean anything, it's not reflective of skill, it is only reflective of how much time you've grinded really. I could be level 30 and still have very few kills/wins.

That's a good point, better than nothing tbh!

That should "delete" the barrier @dusk hound is having. Otherwise it only is a skill issue and it's friends vs friends. You can enjoy the game only playing with friends ^^ so you can "stay in your bubble" if your having skill issues and are as good as other friends of you. So you can still enjoy the game for 6 Bucks ^^

Yeah I think so too so it dimishes the distance ^^ I played first time in the last beta and when the game released @bronze bridge and I played together (both lvl 15 at that point) and we only got lvl 1-3 against us... I mean some were skilled enough to play the game good but good lvl/cards mean a lot can't deny that...
With level MM it should work ^^

#

Got a game against a lvl 23 when I was 21 and it was very fair imo

I don’t think Level matchmaking is gonna help

Just wanted you to notice the Thread as you know we had a couple of noobs (new players not in any mean way) and they played good but with their cards they didnt stand a chance

@jade vessel oh to be honest, I played the Beta months ago and started grinding this game as soon as it came out earlier this week. I probably have a 80% win rate in solos and I'm having fun.

The issue is that I barely got any cards in 15 levels despite putting hours in the game. It just feels eh and I'm warning the devs. If the game feels unrewarding with the packs, people will stop buying it.

#

Just up the speed at which you unlock cards or currency and all will be good

#

I feel like the beta had it good... You unlocked packs through playing and could buy some.

Additionally, packs were 6 cards instead of 4. All of this starts stacking up and making unlocking cards too much of a challenge for players

But it should be balanced with new cards coming and the speed of unlocking "old ones"

True and the barrier to entry needs to feel good to bring people in and keep them

#

It's refreshing to see a developer so switched on and receptive though. I hope they keep the momentum going
