I think it might be a good idea to see the current hand of your teammate when you press tab so that you have the chance to synergise better with randoms

Even as a mini ui, I think that might cause a bit too much screen clutter. Unless they're willing to reduce how much space the cards take up on screen(or give players the option to do it themselves) I think that might bloat the hud a bit. I do like OP's card ping idea tho. They could bind it to something like Middle mouse or maybe Q. And on controller that be easily be a D-pad input or L3 or R3.
