I do not understand why this is not already a feature. 95% of any multiplayer game has a mute button. This can prevent pointless muting of players from the devs as a whole if said players are just being annoying rather than abusive or racist. Players can just mute people that are typing pointless spam. In fact it could be designed for that muted player to STAY muted in future games unless the other player decides to unmute them.
This is simple and makes people happy. Just implement it.
