Today my regular client said it was not updated enough to play online, i tried the "staging server" on steam and it lets me play, but all of my progress and cosmetics are reset. Is this a bug or did I mess with something i shouldnt have?

staging has a different backend so there's different cosmetics, progression etc. compared to the live servers so nothing is broken
if you're trying to get back to the live servers, make sure that you're opted out of any betas in steam and verify your game files, if there's still an issue lemme know or it could be steam being annoying
