Having seen and thought upon the recently shared 2025 roadmap, I am now convinced of something that I have been mulling over in the last couple months, as to what is potentially a huge misunderstanding between the community and the developers.
It goes like this: how much work is needed to be put in for the repeat events? By which I mean Dark Tor, Wintertide, Troll Hunt etc. Not talking about the creation of new events, just repeat ones here.
There are a couple of factors that have led me to this question. 2 particularly recently - 1 was this message #guild-wars message . The idea that "Dark Tor is usually the most stressful event". Thing number 2 - the fact that most of the dev work for 2025 appears to be on the repeat events.
So let me make clear the point of my question - to all of us here, it doesn't feel like the repeat events take much effort at all. Ok, you have to develop some new skins, maybe write some new quests (sometimes), and I guess "turn it on" somehow...but that doesn't feel like it will take a long time.
There are 2 outcomes to this question:
1: "They actually take a really long time to implement each year". Please elaborate, because this so different to what we imagine.
2: "As you say, they don't take much work". In this case, we are back to the idea of the community not really knowing what Midoki is working on.
My summary would be this: putting the events as the main "Exciting, Coming Soon!!!" things on the Roadmap is quite disappointing. It's only exciting if it's your 1st or 2nd year in the game.
If you're still confused about my point - genuinely consider: put up a Discord poll asking "How much work do you think it takes to implement the repeat events? E.g. Dark Tor, Wintertide" with a few options. See what happens. It's not to be cynical, it's to show you how people's perspectives are potentially different at the moment.
There are so many more questions I have about Knighthood development but we'll start here, because this might be a huge misunderstanding
ok bye
