Man every now and then I try japanese music and it's so damn good. They have so many niches that I feel aren't tapped into that much. Love the way they use older genres like jazz, and funk with modern sounds.

There's a lot of just fun creativity and experimental stuff with Japanese music you just don't see anymore with a lot of western pop which is neat

Although I will say, there's definitively a lot that sounds kinda similar, like, it's pretty easy to tell when a song is Japanese just by hearing the instrumentals :P

everyone seen the Doechii on timeless stuff right... I don't think she's bad but why is she on that track with a completely different vibe. Like put all those bars on a different beat and it's a fine song... For some reason industry is deadset on forcing doechii on people in the most heavy handed way.

To be clear I think she's good and getting an industry push isn't wrong but the way they're doing it is weird. Plenty of artist got the same thing it just felt more organic. The ones that don't always get hate. Like I pretty much am meh on most Disney kids who become artists except like Ariana and Leon.

I do think a sizable portion of her hate is from people who have a bias that's not just her music so yea idk...

Lukewarm take but the drake and kendrick beef actually saved drake from releasing another empty album. He's been successful too long and hasn't had anything interesting to write about in so long. At least now he has the betrayal angle from people taking Kendricks side during beef. Also hate to say it but he still makes hits. The rep damage hasn't done as much as expected.

Anyone that thought the beef would make Drake irrelevant was lying to themselves or wasn't thinking critically about past trends. Drake's popularity has made him self sufficient. Man doesn't need to do any promos or have to generate buzz and his stuff will get a billion streams instantly.

Theoretically the beef could have added the pressure on Drake to actually put effort into his music again, but ultimately the guy doesn't have any incentive to do so.

He is still popular as ever. He can still go into the booth and lay very sleepy, low effort vocal passages on like 12 tracks and call it a day

Why spend weeks editing yourself to make something great when you can do a whole album's worth of verses and choruses in like a couple days and it'll get streamed to infinity

The desire to create something great has to come from him and unfortunately the popularity has made him think he can lay a track in 10 min and it'll be great because he thinks he's amazing and it hits a million streams in less than a day

He'll have the 1 or 2 songs an album where the stars align and he gets a good beat and does a solid verse and the feature comes in a turns it to 11 and it's awesome

I think I might have to blame social media for overplaying his music, I know it was just supposed to be a fun project but I just loved his delivery so much more on mmatbs

I like the production on Clipse album but something felt lacking with the flows. Its weird that 2 different rappers are rapping but it still started to sound monotone in a lot of songs.
