But they have horrible overheating issues
Which sucks because god the white razer blade 18 is fucking gorgeous
Probably one of the best laptops I've ever seen
I'm gonna say though the msi is the most satisfying keyboard I've ever typed on
I read that as "Probably one of the laptops I've ever seen"
omitted best for no reason
Yeah, anything that's not thicccc will melt with an i9 and 4090
It gets even worse for razer because so
MSI has some like "creator" models and whatever as well which are pretty sleek looking
I wonder what the wattage cap is for both components in mobile form
The bottom chasis doesn't have enough air vents so cooking pads literally don't do anything to it
4090 does 140w max iirc, i9 does like 120w max I think?
The Asus one I was using I got the cooling pad to drop temps another 20C
And for something as thick as like your phone, yeah, that's a lot of heat to get rid of :P
So you'll end up getting like 30-35C differences using razer
I believe with boosts and stuff an i9 + 4090 will do like 300w
Yeah, trying to keep that cool is uh.... yeah
Especially since cpu and gpu basically share their cooling capacity
Yeah it's just like man the MacBook is great for content creation but if it had a 4090 it would be perfect
Asus Zephyrus laptops are also really pretty, but eh... yeah. Cooling also a problem because slim laptop :P
If the macbook had a 4090 it would melt :P
I was getting like 30-50% faster renders on the Asus
Giving that up hurts

Topaz denoise MacBook would take like 30 seconds to load 4 preview comparisons
Asus did it in like.. 5 seconds
Same in Lightroom denoise it was processing it like 4 times faster than the MacBook
My laptop might not be that fast for editing, but it was affordable and does the job
It do be :P
It's crazy how good laptops are getting though like I had no idea the CPU in the asus was like 90% as powerful as the desktop equivalent
Because I know the GPUs are way different
Yeah, laptops have gotten crazy good
Laptop 4090 closer to a 4070 desktop lmao
Like, with 8th gen intel laptop cpu's have actually gotten good
Before that they were real ass
Like, my current laptop is similar to my desktop in performance which is crazy
It's kinda infuriating because MacBooks are good for content creation but it sucks they're tied to such an anti consumerist company
Then I see all these repair videos about how poorly built they are internally and people having problems and apple being like sorry you didn't buy apple care guess you'll just need a whole new computer ◠ ͜ ◠
The continuity is cool and all but uh I don't text people I use discord and Kakao for everything so that just leaves my photos
Makes me not want anything past an air in the future
Yeah .. it’s annoying every programme has it’s own way of decoding the colour information whether professional or built in and then when your image goes out to devices they put out the image their way. I noticed a difference between samsung and apple phones .
I used to use capture one and really liked the way it handles colours really nice but it’s £20 a month which i can’t justify atm as i’m not shooting professionally enough at the moment .
I was thinking of getting an m3 macbook within the 6 weeks .. i’m curious now to a windows laptop ..

one minecraft startup and its a vacuum cleaner
i remember doing that for the first time with mine i laughed so hard
If you're just doing content creation no gaming definitely get a MacBook
MacBook definitely better on the low end no competition
When you get into the like 4080 and 4090 area it gets competitive
Literally the only thing that Asus computer lost in was screen resolution. It was beating the MacBook in everything else I threw at it lmao
But also matters what specifically too like that's kinda why I'm looking at the msi now
If you're like only gaming though there's way cheaper choices too lmao

Just yeah if you want something that does both I guess is my understanding is.. you're gonna pay for it
My MacBook is great it's just boring as shit to use
My budget is like around £2000 ($2500)
It has no character it's like basically just work that's another reason why I don't want it anymore lmao
Sheeeesh
That's actually a good budget
Big monies
It’s for making art stuff and browsing
Yeah definitely sounds like MacBook still
You don't need to spend 2k for that lmao
id say get a second hand one saves money ig
Art stuff and browsing you can do for like... 750

Ye second hand is a good idea too I agree
Although apple products generally retain value well
Because lmao brand
Actual ewaste with an Apple sticker on it still gets sold for like nearly the original price, it's so stupid
M3 14 pro i was looking at
Nice screen - cools nicely - good speakers for entertainment
Ipad pro or whatever it's called with a keyboard attachment cover thingy
the 15 inch m3 air is tempting too though but heat .. ?
I was gonna say air might be better for you if you're not doing anything video related but I forgot about the SD card reader lmao
SD card reader goated
Ill do video
Dongle go brrr 😔
Probably raw video when i get the sigma fp
Which takes chunks of power
Yeah sd card slot handy
Ironically people using cfexpress I think MacBook airs make more sense
You don't know how many times I've been so happy to have that SD card reader
If you're a student you can get student discount through apple which from time to time tends to be cheaper than other retailers
It's saved my ass so many times from having to carry around extra dongles
I have a little type c sd card reader in my bag at all times
back to the colour convo - be good if there was like a universal colour code so all images could render the same tones on all devices

i def recommend ipad pro
im using one rn and tbh i use it more (in combo with keyboard like waffle said) than my actual macbook
ans its also cutie patootie size to bring along in ur backpack
🥔

Yeah if you're drawing and doing art ipad for sure
I envy my friend who uses her iPad for it
I'm like this would be so cool... If I drew in the first place
just wanted to throw this out there, iOS specifically has a setting for sending all the data vs. sending a "compatibility optimized" version (which is the cutdown one for windows)
it's somewhere in the import/export/icloud setting, but I cba to find it right now
but Rose did hit it on the nail that the two different OS process anything more complicated than a straight jpeg differently
on win 10/11, there's a couple of store apps that improve the experience on the Photos app and with thumbnails and all that
I guess this is one of those things I should know about, but learn through trial and error lol. I always heard something about like pixels on the macbooks and like why they were so good for content creation. I didn't realize it was something called pixel density
which... yeah looking at this now makes a lot of sense
the 16 inch macbook pro I have has a pixel density of 255.
the 18 inch asus I was trying has a pixel density of.. 168 lol
So yeah no wonder it was sharper on the macbook
I guess I didn't realize this was something separate. I knew the qhd screen was lower resolution than the macbook. I just didn't know there was another factor as well
can't find the pixel density of 4k razer blades but apparently the msi is 251 at 18 inches. I mean I know bigger screens are more ideal the higher resolution you go... so would that look better or worse than the macbook that has the smaller screen? Not sure if I'm really 100% following this
just in a perfect hypothetical world where they were the exact same ppi I guess for sake of argument
ofc google is just like "yep bigger and smaller screen both better
"
This is where Apple kinda wins
if I remember there's the "how much distance until it's Retina" and you just find your desired PPI based on how far usually you will sit away from the screen
And shit does work
yeah I was reading an explanation on reddit and.... I didn't understand it
It's a two step thing
they were talking about like... if you crop in on a 4k monitor you get a qhd experience... idfk

"if you're at 4k you can sit 20 inches away but qhd you need to be 27 inches"
It's literally distance against PPI
I'm just here like
Well...yeah but not exactly
I swear there's a calculator
math
Found it
I am a video editor so I don't fucking care about retina
I need more screen real estate
Want to see the entire timeline unzoomed

I definitely get why these laptops are so fucking expensive now
here I was months ago "who tf would game on 4k laptops"
and I still have that opinion

but now I realize it's just more so likely bad marketing
Nah gaming in 4k is whack
because yeah this is about as close seemingly you could get to basically a macbook with a 4090
... and when you factor in the price of both of them.... yeah it's about this price
Unless you're one of those "OOOH THIS LOOKS SO PRETTY" if you're slaying monsters chances are you gonn miss it
I hate how much this msi titan is making for my use case
"OH WOW THAT RAYTRACING" Sir I am trying to click you in time
If anything you need more FPS
tbh i'd just be docking this thing at home and playing on my monitor rn i'm on
think this is a samsung g7
The ideal solution fr
idk it's qhd 32 inch curve monitor 240hz
I definitely would not be gaming on 4k
fuck that
maybe some single player games from time to time but yeah
actually niche af demographic for these computers
I'm sure I've mentioned this in here before but
the other thing that's infuriating and again it's one of these things like the resolution and ppi thing but I forget what it's called
macbooks if you dock them to external displays they don't give you the full resolution
when I docked that asus laptop it was like NOTICEABLY sharper
???
What
yeah lol
also my monitor is 240hz... but this is not 240hz
I guarantee you I go get a pro xdr display and it looks fine though
That's probably Thunderbolt limitations on your machine
I do understand 4k gaming because I'm a slut for pretty graphics
I would not be surprised if this was just some fucking apple bs
well both are thunderbolt 4
there's actually threads online about this
I remember someone sent this yeji gif a few days ago lOL
You just gave me ANOTHER reason NOT to use your products
I was like BRO THAT LOOKS SO MUCH SHARPER THAN MY MACBOOK
if you're using the actual macbook screen it looks fine but the second you try to dock to anything like
this is... definitely not qhd and 240hz lol
I feel like I'm looking at slightly higher 1080p and like.. idk.. 144hz
External monitor isn't plug and play like with windows
You have to mess around in the settings and everything
It's so cringe
yeah and I hate the way apple does text scaling
like I keep telling people apple makes great hardware but their os is absolutely
I believe in some cases you have to download some apps to get full external monitor support
like the software is such a wtf
.,.??
How
They put all their effort into iOS and MacOS is just an after thought
I honestly don't really have a problem with iphones and ios anymore like they made a lot of improvements. Sure every once in a while i'm like ok apple stop eating crayons
I think the camera on the 15 pro is actually goated
No custom ringtones tho
but then yeah macbooks... love hate relationship
Look at my macbook and i'm like damn the io is good af, braided cable, magsafe.. slightly less than 4k screen.. keyboard nice to type on trackpad is good great battery life
anddddddddddd yep the os sucks

I think at this point it's more I just got used to the os than it actually being good
yeah it's infuriating still that lightroom works as well as it does on macs
My phone is on silent 24/7, I can't care less about ringtones
Macbook trackpads are wild
I wish windows laptops had Macbook trackpads
Maybe then you wouldn't have to carry a mouse with you at all times
then how else I want to tell people YES I HAVE A TRIPLES DIMENSION RINGTONE BECAUSE YOUSHOULD LSITEN TO IT?
Windows laptop have been getting better trackpads for sure. But only really on laptops the 0.1% can buy lel
Entry level ThinkPads are cheap
And they very much dont have Macbook level trackpads
yeah basically gets back into that category I was talking about earlier about like windows laptops only being better in the highest price tiers lmao
below that.. not even close regarding build quality
I'd say starting at 4070 laptops the higher end segment of those start getting competitive already, and everything above that is just equal or better teah
Higher end 4070 laptops for like, there are definitively ones that start getting there in terms of build quality and luxury and such
I can't really speak for other brands but like the Lenovo Legion Pro's are really good build quality wise
They do look pretty gamery though
But they feel really nice
Not gonn matter if I docked it
But as of recent they kinda slowly toned it down
Legion pro's real expensive though
I looked up more about ppi just to understand it and yeah it's literally just like
same thing as resolution gotta sit further away
so yeah 16 and 18 inch screens both with same ppi it'll look better on the smaller screen
No
If the ppi is the same then it'll look identical
Ppi is your pixel density. The higher it is the sharper something looks. Usually smaller screens have a higher ppi because high resolution, small screen, pixels very close together so it looks very sharp
If a larger screen has the same ppi as a smaller screen, the screens will look exactly the same in terms of sharpness
Meaning (depending on your usecase) the larger screen will offer more as it's equally sharp as the smaller screen, whilst being bigger
If 2 screens of a different size has same PPI I'd want to know the resolution of each one because ain't no way it's regular
The bigger screen has a higher resolution clearly
Otherwise they can't have the same ppi
Yeah the 18 inch was 251 the 16 inch was 255
There was a thread I'd have to find it again but it was all viewing distance
I'd take 16 for the portability. As 16" is a 15" chassis whereas 18" is uh... that's big to carry around
Yeah that's the biggest problem
Legit have to buy a backpack that can carry it
God the screen real estate being portable though is 😩
Felt so much better looking at photos on that with smaller bezels too compared to the MacBook
More screen and thinner bezels

@echo hill remember when I took a very long time to realize the tripleS girls were in 2 themes for the Weekly Idol preview

*THIS MV'S GONNA BE IN IMAX CROP
@grave prairie cause you probably would find this interesting too
HOW AM I JUST REALIZING THIS?!?!?!??!/
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
OMG I WANNA CRY
i wanna cry this is one of my fav crops
IT'S IN DIGITAL IMAX
dis 1.90:1?
YEAH
1.9:1
I was like
"wait this letterboxing looks... WAIT THIS IS IMAX CROP"
I didn't realize this before because I was playing it on my phone
Now I am on PC
on 16:9 screen it doesn't look that good with just tiny black bars
....eeaaaaa yeah I am not gonna respond to that
Okay tiny black bars, I get it
American crop which is 1.86:1 has very tiny blackbars
Yeah that looks odd, I agree
the worst
I have 2 crops that I am a really fan of because I like to watch stuff on TV
Univisum (2:1)
And Digital IMAX (1.9:1)
There's that immersiveness effect + cinematic
Because when you're used to watching film in 2:35:1
Switching to either makes it feel like you gained Y depth

0:00 Hi...
classic case
youtubers make video with crts and forget to check if anyone on their editing team has aged out of hearing high frequencies
Sweeeeeet!! ~ the grade is gorgeous as well! 🙌
@autumn bridge how do you establish the format ?
Niice
Basically a slightly boxier 16:9
The lens choices super wide or boxed in telephoto for the majority in that teaser
Immersive
character immersive
Wide up close - character immersive inc enviroment
Telephoto - exclusive of environment sense of loneliness or introspective
@autumn bridge whats girls night ?
3:2 ?
Gimme an SS
Nah that looks like standard 16:9
It depends on what your viewing it on as well
Froze the same clip on my laptop and i’m getting more of the image

laptop could be 16:10
It’s 1.54:1
Kitzen I think either you or me is misunderstanding what I discussed about "crop"
People also refer is aspect ratio
Guess I need to explain also the numbers I have been spewing can be also referred as "aspect ratio" but from what I learned from other videographers the term is called crop
The "im getting more image" is really a pseudovisual effect, you are not actually getting more image but you feel like you're getting more
That is more or less the aftereffect of "crops"
However
This pseudoeffect is important to cinematographers because they decide what emotion you want to feel when you're watching their film/content
Likewise, there's actual work behind centering an object/focusing/deciding what film stock to use and that may will affect the final aspect ratio of the product
That being said, I did say that I am a fan of these crops because I view any content in a 16:9 frame, like 90% of the world does
As I view it, contained in a 16:9 frame allows 95% of films all over the world to be viewed with the letterboxing that the director deems it to be
So in a way, there's art in the black bars
there's art in crop, black bars are just side effect of given screen you're viewing it on
that's what Kitzen meant
and here's nice vid explaining entire topic!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbCqkQPnlOI
With IMAX releases like Villeneuve’s DUNE Part 2 and Nolan’s Oppenheimer comes the perennial debate on aspect ratios. Which framing is best? Who’s getting more? Who’s getting less? But there’s a bit more nuance to this debate. These questions miss a key component of the filmmaking process: the DIRECTOR’S INTENT. They fail to acknowledge the way ...
and some historical things I wasn't aware of
Ah so I got it the other way
Probably only me but when I am watching anything I am noticing the black bars first
Some absolutely cinematic composition within the IMAX crop, from GND MV
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I WANNA CRY
MUSIC VIDEO IN MY FAVOURITE CROP
IMAX screens are taller where normal theatre and our tv are wider aspect ratio.
yeah that's IMAX 35-70
This is IMAX Digital
aka 1.9:1
If only manufacturers would actually make 16:10 monitors
Impossible to find outside of laptops
It will be popular
Doubt it
Even games supporting 16:10
Considering we still haven't seen any
I mean, that's pretty normal since with a little bit of coding a game can support like every ratio
It just detects whatever you have and adjusts, nothing special about that
If manufacturers had any interest we would've had 16:10 gaming monitors years ago. Considering the weird ass bullshit some companies out there release just to see how it performs / if anyone would even buy it
Yet no 16:10 releases
Dunno I don't think so
Nah, it has to render those extra images. Most of Western games support 16:10
Even steam deck is 16:10
You'd be revoking MULTIPLE international broadcast standards to get a 16:10 product
16:9 is perfect for cinematic
16:9 movie looks more cinematic on 16:10 display
I'd say even after 30 years you'll never see a 16:10 TV as the norm
because of international standards I mentioned earlier
You'd be challenging the names of Universal
Sony Pictures
Like, we're getting silly ass stacked, vertical, square, super ultra wide, person sized, you name it gaming monitors. Yet still no 16:10 despite them being well available on gaming laptops for plenty of years now
I think you can easily get 16:10 monitor if you go enterprise products
Like I am sure HP has one
Which suck ass
wait wdym?
Because no one buys them
They're professional monitors
Professionally garbage
wha
Enterprise hasn't been 16:10 for like a million years
Nah professional creatives HUNT those
All enterprise 16:10 stuff is ancient
I've seen entire editing den use that one Xiaomi monitor
I'm not telling those broadcast to release their content in 16:10. Because 16:9 looks really good in 16:10 it's adds very little border in top and bottom and it looks cinematic. And you can enjoy IMAX ratio as well because it also add less bar on sides compared to a 16:9 display. All I am saying 16:10 is a sweet spot.
Like, if companies are willing to constantly release the most weird and whack ass concept products but still not release a 16:10 monitor, I feel that says enough about their interest in it
Probably not 16:10
And mind you I visit studios regularly to consult them about room acoustics
nah I can eye some, those were definitely 16:10
Professional studios might use older Eizo's
Which can look like 16:10
But very much are not
Like, there are 16:10 monitors for color work, but they are all worse than 16:9 offerings out there so I unless you get them used for a great price there's no point in buying them
Plus they're all tiny as well
Like, 1080p 24" 16:10 for your creative work is real ass
Or well
1200
Like, LG, where's your 30" 1600p 165hz 16:10 monitor?
Like, why do we have so many super ultrawides yet not a single gaming 16:10
Widescreen is cult favourite
I hate the bars in widescreen for 16:9 content
Imagine how 4:3 will look
Narrow af
4:3 content on a 32:9
Oh boy is it streched?
It's kinda cheating you will see enemy heads wider
Never tried cs 2. Don't the game has wide screen support?
Idk, I don't play cs
I mean, that's not my picture, I'm very much not rich enough for a 32:9
I 21:9 money, not 32:9 money lel
Hope steam deck 16:10 force Japanese studios to render their games in 16:10. It's don't bother me but it's still nice.
There's plenty of Japanese games with 16:10 support wdym
sega, capcom, bandai namco don't do it. Idk know othe publishers. You can mod those games to be in 16:10 so it's fine.
this is how it looks an IMAX home release version if they release it for 16:10 display
this is original a 16:9
THIS IS HOW A 4:3 ON A 16:10
The 4:3 will appear much taller on a 16:10 display

@autumn bridge seeing almost all loossemble vids kinda makes me think:
did the editor forgot to set the video fps output to 30fps?
(something like they had their project at 30fps but exported it at 24fps instead)
bc all the videos they had are at an unwatchable fps category
i couldn't bear watching their videos at longer rate
I'll take a look when I have time
Could you link the one that you think is problematic?
well
it's almost all of their downlink and bts stuffs
pics of yesterday
boomer ahhh hashtags
I've never used hashtags before
I don't even post text really, usually just single emoji
hahahaha
im kinda trying to attract a little since its a new account (and i sadly dont follow mutuals)
I personally couldn't care less about followers and such :P
yeah understandable
i just kinda do, wanna grow this account for sure
best way to do is sith hashtags for now ig
more as to meet other people n fun stuff
was thinking on making tiktoks but like in the calm vids compilation type of wY
This one photographer I really really like released an app with their own custom filters and stuff, and it's so good

hello. I am Hwamin who loves photography.
I have been sharing photos on Instagram since 2015.
Many people loved my photos, so I decided to release the app.
I ofte…
thats sick
only 3€? thats crazy
ill buy rn, i kinda need some vintage looking presets
Yeah, it's a good price
I almost never buy apps, but when I do
Their stuff is so good
ok yeah im in love
will definitely have to learn how to do manual focus with this lens
Epic
theyve got so much more stuff
idk if its expensive but for a full analog cam (with lens) they asked 130 for the olympus one
might just have to go back some time to see if i can get anything cheaper
Also
Sick pictures

I’m buying this lens sometime
How’s the camera ?
its great!!
so far ive been loving it
i took these two about n hour or three ago with the olympus lens
i love it so far
Yoooo
i was honestly surprised by myself for this, especially since ive got no knowledge about this (i should watch yt videos tho oopsie haha)
most of the time im like haha yolo lets take pic, edit lightroom & upload
ooo nice dreamy effect
das niceee
Niiiiiiiiiiiice~ look awesome!

Nah ~ just follow your own instinct
olympus lens surprise me how good they are for the money
Always so good
Thankfully noones blown the secret yet
I fancy a 50mm again
I sold the one i had when i got my carl zeiss
But its heavy
A light lens is good
I also miss the canon 50mm 1.4
That lens has a certain character i like too
I sold mine for parts to a local dealer when i crunched the gears in auto by mistake trying to use manual
Atm i’m saving up for the sigma fp
oooo interesting
The thypoch 28mm 1.4 looks real nice
i still have no knowledge about any of that stuff but for now im just shooting for fun, will get into that by time
these sculptures are so so cool
this park was full of em
no clue who the artist is because there were no names or information tags rip
Intricate work!
probably like the biggest canon announcement ever tomorrow
or like definitely one of them
hype af

it's definitely eos r5ii and finally eos r1
kinda curious if they're gonna announce the 70-200 f2.8 Z and 200-500 f4 tomorrow too
all 4 of those should be getting tested at the olympics right now
or well
soon I guess lmao
neat
People only been waiting for the R1 for like... 3 years now
r5ii shaping up to be a really stupid camera
if rumors are true should start getting 8k60fps fancams
Time for those 1TB sd cards
1TB cards are honestly not even that bad price wise
r5ii should be a really good camera for kpop kek
yeah
price on storage has gone down a lot thank god
deals all the time
Pretty solid 1TB cards out there for like 100

ok idk about that much
KEK
I only trust like sandisk and sony when it comes to memory but there's deals all the time on their cards now
some of them have like lower write speeds
I mean, this is Europe prices, US has like nonexistent tax :P
oh well I should reiterate i'm talking about cfexpress b cards
Lexar good as well
standard SD cards yeah
And Samsung
I use Samsung for my sd cards
But I don't think they have 1tb models
CFEx-B 1TB?
Woah
I don't think I've stumbled upon those before
Even in my heaviest studio usage, I never filled even the 512GB
That must be $ludicrous per pop
cfexpress b goes up to 2tb
they're just not made by the major manufacturers
like sony and sandisk only make up to 512
I have a 512 and 256 but my friend has like multiple 2tb ones

I have never filled up my 512 though even shooting multiple days though so I definitely don't need lmao
even the day I shot 42 minutes of 8k I didn't fill it up
sandisk & angelbird

I’m thinking of trying nextorage v90 cards next

supposed to be very decent

yep there it is
r5ii also
💸
Nice looks good
If i had that kind of money i’d buy a fujifilm gfx 100sii for my kind of work
but the canons are very good all rounders
R1 is only 7500, a true steal
IMAX camera
what about this badboy
Wicked
Now were talking
Need that fr fr
Lol the funny thing is what I might actually end up doing is holding off on the r5ii and the next time I'm in Korea i'll go to a camera store and rent it for music bank one day
The R1 is such a fucking joke like it's actually almost insulting. I feel like the R5ii announcement was the true like star of the show and it's getting a lot of praise
Idk why but the last two years or so I've really started doing video and that's a problem of the R5 with the overheating. I mean granted it got fixed but yeah I might actually swap it for the R5C
R5C prices are dropping right now with R5ii announcements same with the original R5
I definitely wanna have two cameras and one primarily just for video so that feels like the R5C is just always one of them, but idk if I'm gonna swap my R3 for the R5ii
Like run and gun stuff yeah the R3 just keeps up and does what I need it to do so I don't really feel like I'm missing anything in that regard, but the original R5 has a normal CMOS sensor where as now the R5ii has a stacked bsi sensor like the R3. The problem is though the R3 also has a higher voltage battery so it drives lenses faster. Well one thing Canon didn't really advertise with the R5ii announcement was that the new battery that is going to release with it will have a higher discharge rate to power the R5ii doing 8k60. Also the battery grip with the fan that you can buy they stated you need those batteries specifically to power the fan. Canon also confirmed those same batteries will be able to be used in older Canon cameras though through a software update. The R5C needs external power delivery to do 8k60 so it's actually kind of interesting that maybe the batteries they're releasing will allow the R5C to gain that functionality without the need for external power delivery
but yeah the whole R3 and R5ii thing like R3 just is a fantastic camera, but my only complaint with it has always been that when I use my R5 at fansigns like the image quality is definitely there lol
If the R5ii having the higher discharge battery actually allows it to drive lenses faster than the R3 that actually changes a ton for me
The R5ii still has a slower readout speed than the R3 though that much is confirmed. Flash sync on the R3 is 1/180 (still wish it was like 1/250 lol) but the R5ii is confirmed to be 1/160 so imo it's kinda unusable
goddamn whole ass bible story
if Canon had mentioned things like that in the marketing announcement I would've been sold but rn yeah just kinda holding off on it
yw
When it comes to video, isn't Sony basically the best option?
generally yeah
a7s3 and fx3 are insane
but I mean we're basically at camera tech plateau point now anyways
R5C and FX3 are basically the same exact camera and just comes down to more what you want out of a camera instead
Canon doesn't offer an A7S3 competitor in their lineup
R5 doesn't have false color or waveform which is something I want
highlights are such a bitch in video lmao
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1865768/999999 yeah this thread wondering the same exact thing as me lmao
Has anyone seen a review or note confirming whether the new Battery Pack LP-E6P is just longer lasting or if it's required for high frame rate shoo...
Time to switch to Sony
In terms of flash , the profoto a2 can sync 1200th
100watts power
Small (fits in your hand)
Lightweight (700g)
Pop it on a light stand if your only going to be facing one way
@night mulch
this setup might work more or less depending on your conditions
from what i’ve read the r5ii is more capable than the 5c
Hello, I am now 1 month into photography what do you recommend for photo editing softwares ? I shooting raw and tried lightroom but I found the software clunky
Yeah lightroom needs a fairly powerful computer these days
capture one (costs around $20 /month) worked well on a 2015 spec laptop i had until around 2022 when i quit capture one (to save money as i was not doing any paid work)
Capture ones been updated and i think it needs a better pc spec but it certainly worked nicer than lightroom did
Adobe bridge always seems to work well with my low spec’d laptop & photoshop with it for around $10 might be good
monthly payment software is just pure pain for me
I have a macbook m3 now but im actually using canons software because it keeps the colours nicer to me
Although when i take the pictures i want to retouch into photoshop i need to come out of adobe color and select the camera profile colour option though the colours are never quite as accurate as they are in canons dpp
(I usually use natural profile in camera and in dpp as it gives good flexibility/ flat profile to work with and more natural skin tones)
Capture one was the best for me in terms of colour and also keeping colour accuracy into photoshop but .. $20 a month is mmmmm.
Lightroom is really good but you need a super computer to run it yeah
There is Affinity Photo but I'm not the biggest fan of it
It feels a bit meh compared to Lightroom
meanwhile i use lightroom on my phone
LOL you know I saw someone use something like that recently
was doing a birthday cafe I think... it was for ririka? I went to a few while here for ily:1 but yeah like the lighting in the cafe kinda sucked. I was using my r5 and 28-70 f2 I believe and yeah someone held one of those lights up and I was like bro keep that shit up the photos are way better LOL
it wasn't that exactly but it was a solid light
or maybe that's not a solid light since you mention sync speed
not until they offer a 100-300
I came out here and saw some dudes using Sony A1 and 300 2.8 and I was like man that setup looks sick
thought about it until I saw this dude struggling to keep someone in frame because he was fixed at 300
and then this other guy that uses an A1 was like "oh yeah I took 2 TERABYTES of photos at weeekly showcase"
I was like 🗿
I took.... like 250gb lol
sony cameras are horrible with compression also he was bitching about battery life meanwhile I was still at like 65% on my r3 lol
he has more detailed photos though for sure can't deny that but it's not without it's tradeoffs
wait I did say it in here right
oh no I didn't
pirating adobe is objectively moral
but if you want to only pay 4 times a year you can just sub to a plan on adobe, and then go to manage your plan and wait for it to let you which can take like 30 minutes. After that you manage your plan and go try to cancel. They'll offer you 2 free months to keep you subbed. You accept that and then you get those two free months. Whenever you get charged again on month 4 you swap plans which will refund your charge to the new plan you choose, then you switch back to the original plan you want and you get refunded for the swap and then charged for the plan you swapped to and then you just repeat the process again. Go cancel and they'll give you another 2 months free
either that or you just sail the seven seas but
have fun saving money
cause fuck adobe all my homies hate adobe
oh yeah also if adobe ever hits you with that like "oh you're in a contract and you'll be charged to cancel early" bs you can do this for that too. Just swap plans and then cancel
gets you out of paying the "early cancellation" fee
other than the neural filters and the creative cloud stuff, pirated adobe objectively works more often than the paid always-online subscription
for a while I was paying for it and still installing the cracked version because the actual install just had too much problems
then I'd log in with the cracked install and use the online features lol
way too many telemetry stuff, Adobe, stop that shit
Oh also it just depends on use case. So as a pure single camera yeah the R5ii blows the R5C out of the water unless you're doing like commercial work, but even then the R5ii has clog 2 which is from the cinema line. They did bring in false color, wave form, and a full sized hdmi port which was nice for sure. The problem is though is we don't know if the R5ii has a dual base iso, and the R5ii still will overheat like Canon even admitted there is a limit on how much recording you'll get out of it. Also the R5C has the cinema OS in it which gives you access to super 16 and 35 crop modes, face only detection (really good for having the camera not refocus when someone goes out of frame) and tools like shutter angle plus it never overheats. When you get the two new batteries that's recquired to run the grip, plus the grip, plus the r5ii it comes out to shy of $5k and the R5C is going used rn for like $2600 lmao so it's kinda the pricing. I'm using it more as a B cam if anything which I think is more it's use case so it prob makes more sense
Review of the Canon Cinema EOS R5 C. An incredible camera that surprised and impressed me with its fantastic image quality and clever hybrid functionality.

no stabilization definitely does suck but video makers don't really want stabilization because it adds weird affects to video
you can basically skip the part where he goes over dynamic range cause that part is the longest in the video and basically just a number sheet lol
but yeah he says basically the hdmi port and battery life is the only bad thing about the camera and says it's one of the best cameras he's ever seen
Yeah, I really need to get a cracked version of lightroom
Kinda expensive but I'll give it a try
Or well, expensive compared to like Affinity suite
hehe, well they have model lights as well which are constant lights so if it was a profoto must have been the model light- if it flashed too.
Or might have been something like a smallrig rc60b or amaran 60s
ahhh i see fair
I've actually really been enjoying like
doing one focus cam and one full group one
but yeah that's probably my biggest problem with my r5 right now is at fansigns when I want to shoot with it I can't because the gauge in the camera for the temperature is so stupid
I don't wanna be sitting here worrying about the camera suddenly being too hot that by the end of the fansign I can only record for like 3 minutes
shit is dumb af and i've actually had that happen multiple times now especially tripleS showcase
when I shot tripleS showcase by the end of it it told me I could only record like 4 minutes of video
Im trying Affinity then, there is a 6 months trial and an actual 50% discount
tried davinci resolve for a quick gif with a transparent background.
it's confusing as shit
all i get is a gif with a black background
I still to learn davinci

yeah I still prefer davinci to premiere pro
premiere is fucking scary lmao

Edited my first pics
Idk why but this channel always disappears for me for some reason
even though I don't have it muted and I am following it
Yeah, forum channels disappear if nobody sent a message in a couple of days
Kinda silly
Oh wait you're right that's what it was
nice a pignose S13
"zenki"
both are great to have, fun drivers. Cool pics
lol I always heard about how like
zoom lenses aren't really true too often to what their listed focal ranges are and so that's not new news
but idk i'm assuming this is due to focus breathing which the canon rf2870 f2 is known for having
I'm currently renting a rf 50 1.2 and a rf 24-105 because I felt the 2870 was too short a lot of times, and the 50 1.2 just for some variation
so I did some testing grabbed a mario mushroom toy I saw in the house lmao
set up the tripod and swapped out the lenses. Set them all to 2.8 and did long exposures to keep the iso at 100 just to check sharpness initially
but the compression and actual focal ranges is... a bit wild and kind of making me reconsider the 2870 f2 now because like I said it might be due to focus breathing is my assumption but yeah look at these results
this is what I would take as true since this is a prime so this was the 50mm 1.2 obviously at 50mm
this was the rf 24-105 2.8 at 50mm.. pretty close. The fact I had to double check the image is probably a good thing
here's where it starts getting a little funny.. this is the 28-70... at 70mm. Keep in mind I didn't move the tripod or anything
and this was the 28-70mm set to 50mm lol

but yeah I always heard this was a thing, but never bothered doing tests to see how off it could be
oh wow
Pretty big difference
Noob question : are they full frame lenses ?
just a question, have you tried turning off lens correction completely both in-camera and in your processing software?
also try comparing the two zoom lenses at 70 and 28 as well, it's possible your lens is actually defective and the focusing ring is not calibrated correctly
because that's a pretty wild difference for full frame lenses at 50mm. the low aperture 50mm primes have always been known to be a bit over 50mm (in the 52-55mm range) but this is too different
These are all full frame lenses yeah
Didn't try that. Actually shouldn't be that though. This is a known "issue" with the 28-70 and just normal variance in lenses. I'll get the lenses and camera bag out later though and do some more tests
I know that with zoom lenses they're never true to what the lens is advertised as. You can actually find it in patents whenever manufacturers patent a new lens that like a lens won't actually be 200mm but it'll be like.. 193mm lmao
I know that the 24-105 2.8 is basically a 35-105 instead because the lens correction on the wide end is absolutely horrible
This is why I prefer primes generally, but I'm also not doing events photography like you are, where zoom lenses shine.
zoom lenses are just too many compromises
but the 28-70 f2 is really quite an achievement for Canon
Yeah short lenses are like basically dead in Korea is the problem I always have. Like that's a lot of the reason I did a huge consolidation on my gear last year cause I just looked at lightroom and I was like
"oh hey like... 95% of my photos were taken on my 70-200" lol
I kept going to fansigns and the 400mm was too close, and the 70-200mm was too short, and all my friends kept telling me 300mm was better these days. After like making that trip to gimhae with that gear I was like fuck it I'm gonna just sell all of this and get the 100-300 lol, but so yeah now like this time same thing like.. 95% of my photos were on the 100-300
it's a double edged sword because while the images are great, at the same time it often does leave me at least being like "okay I want... some variation" lol
and so yeah the 28-70 f2 is really good for that
the bokeh is just so satisfying out of that lens, but god the amount of times I used it and was like "okay this is just slightly too short" was like.. I think literally every time I used it
in the same regard that the 100-300 replaced lenses in my bag I feel like the 28-70 does the same thing. Idk it's a fun lens to use. I always read people online that say like lenses have a certain look and I thought it was mostly bs, but there is some truth to it lol
the photos out of the 28-70 are just really satifsying and probably some of my favorite photos
the 50mm definitely is sharper that being said, but idk 50mm to me is kind of a boring focal length
I really like how 35mm looks more personally
I took this photo the other day making a larry chen joke lmao i'm gonna just send it here cause all my gear is packed up rn I cba to get it out for comparison
but yeah the size difference between the 24-105 and 28-70.. 28-70 is a lot easier to travel with
Also even though i'm sure the 24-105 is the objectively better lens for my use case... 28-70 still feels more fun to use somehow. I always kinda said that if I stopped going to korea I would prob sell my gear, but i'd prob end up keeping the r5 and 28-70 still just because that combination was so satisfying to use
anyways yep ted talk
cameras and lenses fun af to use
all those larry chen videos of him doing car photography kinda looks fun sometimes. been wanting to get into video more too. I think I have a pretty good understanding of cameras and how they work regarding photos and videos (at least comparatively to what I see... from a lot of others lol) but I don't have the creativity aspect 🫠
Pov: you won the lottery
I'd still like to get a camera one day, or well, like, something that's not an X100
I do still think it's very silly how I can sell my X100 with a profit lol
larry chen mentioned. Takes gorgeous pics
the 🐐
that dude single handedly was the reason I tried out the 200 f2 early last year
not even joking
wooow
I saw that dude using it in a lot of his videos
read up so much on that lens and waited for a good deal
in retrosepct like waffle I ended up just selling it for profit anyways
that lens was so fucking fun to use, but god it missed focus so often
it's not the greatest lens for people specifically moving
but for cars i'm sure it's completely fine since he uses it
I'd love to get something super silly like an FX30
that lens had such a weird affect
isn't that part of sony's cinema line
hey actually I was considering the r5c at one point.. and still kind of am so guess it's not too silly
It is yeah
I think it's the entry level cinema they have?
A7C II would be really cool as well
that's what my friend has
well he sold it recently
I know he said the viewfinder and display on the a7c's are ass
looked up reviews and they said the same thing that like content looked completely different out of the camera
like considerably better
I've wanted to test THIS lens for a long time! Rumour has it that Canon are working on a new RF mount version, too. Let's see how this classic EF optic measures up by mounting it onto a Canon EOS R5.

yeah this lens for me was the same affect as the 28-70 lmao
it was like so fun to just hold and use and the photos are amazing
I up to thought about getting rid of my 70-200 and just using that instead and yeah going full primes at one point but it's just so impractical for kpop
otherwise all my photos would look like ayano's
lol I decided to try to do this test again with my 50 1.8 that I never use
wew 1.2 is kinda insane
looks like fucking fog in my room
- 50mm 1.2 @ 2.8
- 50mm 1.8 @ 2.8
I'm still giving the benefit of the doubt that the more expensive lens is more accurate
It's wild to consider that the 1.8 is 1/10 of the cost of the 1.2
but that being said I guess you do pay for the 1.2 because the photo I took at 1.2 is kinda wild
- 50mm 1.2 @ 1.2
- 50mm 1.8 @ 1.8
you literally can not make out the guitar in the background
Also what I think is pretty cool is this is an actual illustration of depth of field if you look at the table you can see the plane of focus
can truly see just how thin the 1.2 is

I think this is kind of interesting though just goes to show like how good modern lenses are even cheaper one. I mean both stopped down to 2.8 if you blindly showed me both photos I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference
the 1.2 at 1.2 is definitely sharper than the 1.8 at 1.8, but then I guess it comes down to how often you would actually shoot at 1.2
I always liked the look of the canon 50mm 1.4 it has a certain character
crazy how different 50mm is rendered across lenses
good tests @night mulch
much appreciated
Oh yeah no problem. I was mostly doing the test for myself, but also wanted to send it here for second opinions and also just to help lmao
those tests actually really made me kinda have a different opinion on my 28-70 now though lmao
I still love how that lens feels to use
but it's so funny because what I perceived to be sharp actually wasn't sharp compared to other lenses. Like I heard the 28-70 lost sharpness when it was zoomed out. I had so many times shooting with it where I would take a photo and i'm like "this wasn't due to lens shake was it?"
I would even send it to my friends and they're like yeah this doesn't look sharp
it was like in some medium where it looked sharp, but the longer you stared at it you would realize it actually wasn't
since I wanna start doing more video, the 24-105 seems like the better option seeing as it's literally made for video. They're roughly the same price so i'm gonna swap those around here soon. The 24-105 was way more accurate to what it read on the lens and it was sharp all the way through
I have to say with the 50s though I didn't expect them to be so close. Yeah that 1.2 picture is the difference, but idk how often i'll be shooting at 1.2 to begin with lol

The people that manage to attend like all the fansigns all year round must be so loaded
Like ridiculously
Have no jobs and just go to kpop concerts and fansigns across korea and often overseas
Can imagine them buying a couple of r5iis is akin to me going to the convenience store for a sandwich & juice 🤪
here’s me working 42- 50 hours a week
For photos though i’m happy enough with my 50mp canon 5ds it’s great
I mean, it would be cool to have that option is what im saying
no this
because i genuinely cannot believe one has a normal job, these people have to be loaded for sure
either family or just idk but jees i wish (minus attending the fansigns, just the camera equipment
)

Wait
Youtube can fill square format now
well when it's overseas events that's not them taking the photos that's just someone that lives in that country selling the photso
it's cheaper to just buy data instead of going yourself
and usually multiple people
I don't know a single person that takes all of their own photos
Oh yeah i forgot about that side of things
there probably is some that do go overseas like itzy fansites and I don't blame them cause itzy doesn't do fucking anything in korea ever anyways lmao
so they prob just have a lot of money saved up
funnily enough now i'm kinda atp
i'm like humoring just co-running a page with someone
taking photos and then just letting someone editing
an already existing one though cause yeah I just like taking photos
I don't like the whole... editing part
future getty photographer
pov: you use 1tb sd cards :^)
actually tbh I don't think i've ever filled a single card
I have a 256gb card and I think the most I've ever filled it to was like 75%
now that time when I did 42 minutes of 8k yeah that shit was almost filled

meanwhile i use a 64gb cqrd
bc i barely do stuff
wait nvm that was the old one
rn i use a samsung 128gb but thats still not much hahaha
I can't recall the size of my sd card but it's not big at all
Don't really need much since I shoot in the highest quality jpeg option :P
I actually do wonder if maybe it's just that the jpeg profile in camera looks weird compared to how macos processes them
sometimes the conversion looks so good
other times saturated af
i've had too many times raws saved me though lmao I don't think i'll ever shoot jpeg
Canon tends to warm/saturate
Fuji tends to cool/neutral
White balance is key
Set the wb for good skin
(In cam profiles also play a part)
For canon i use neutral
but yeah raw is a flexible save
the other profiles tend to warm/saturate
I’ve used the wb shift in certain situations
it’s each to their own
Unique styles are born
I guess that could be a thing in camera technology to come, is the camera detecting human skin tone irl & matching in camera
(with customisation available)
man the canon 35mm 1.4 they released
it just seems so hard to use for kpop but god I love 35mm
it just doesn't fit the "must see bacteria in skin pores" kpop fansite photography meta

the only reason i'm hesitant is cause
I aint trying to get that close
sometimes using the 28-70 there was definitely times I put the lens down and I was like "oh fuck didn't realize you're just... right there"
yep yel

hold on where's that photo
that was even against my comfort zone but idk
that's my hot take I like how 35mm renders faces better than 50mm
I know 50mm is closer to what your eyes see, but idk faces start looking flat to me
I took my passport photo at 85mm and I hate how my face looks
yeah like this was 60mm
way too close for comfort
kek yep 58mm
put the lens down and I was like yeah this is too close
too used to shooting with longer lenses
I just can't imagine ever being able to use 35mm properly which is sad cause I prefer how that renders faces
cpw putting out deals for rf 35mm 1.4 $100 off no tax free shipping

I frankly think this is a myth or misconception that photographers just take for granted
in my own experience, 70-85mm was closer to what I would find "normal" in terms of what my eyes would see vs what the camera would see of a person's face when focused on it, and it's what portrait shooters use usually (I use a 135mm for that but that's a whole other story)
and 17-24mm is what the total field of vision for human eyes are anyway. so both way off 50mm
so it's kind of weird, I've never found 50mm to be "normal" despite owning many 50mm to 58mm primes, never been able to capture what my eyes were seeing with the 50mm on a full frame.
but 50 on a aps-c sensor, now that seems perfectly "normal" to my eyes 😄
now 35mm is a whole other matter, I often find that's exactly the field of view I want when looking at a scene (other than detailed wide landscapes)
it's why 35mm was the lens of choice for street photographers classically, especially rangerfinder shooters
it captures the most 'natural' normal looking scenes in my opinion too, humans present or not
50mm is just not wide enough to match the human eye
I think it was Canon who made a pancake 40 something something and said that was the closest to human eye focused on something lol
a very old but good writeup on the subject
oooo huh that's interesting to know
I always found it kind of interesting like a lot of working professionals don't really own a 50mm lmao
well maybe like wedding photographers
all these people ik shooting like motorsport are like oh yeah I have a 35mm or 85mm lol never seen one with a 50mm
Iv been liking 42mm on my fuji
( 28mm x 1.6 crop)
for hairdresser portrait work 80-95mm
although 50mm is still good
mann is wish i could do a job in photography
would literally be the dream
just travel stuff
Preaching to the choir on that one
I've been looking into it
But idrk what I wanna do if I did
Photojournalism looks fun yep basically doing that rn
what the fuck
ok i've always seen like price differences in rf 85mm 1.2 and I never really looked at it because it was never a lens I was humoring
Street Price Drops: RF 85mm f/1.2L $2129, RF 85mm f/1.2L DS $2449 https://t.co/0IWycMndMW
then I just saw this and i'm like
"oh the more expensive one is just one that's in better condition" because they put that on here sometimes from certain websites like lensrental and adorama iirc
but then I clicked just to see and I've never known until now that canon had two different versions of this lens? lol
I had lots of fun making this comparison video, fiddly as it was.

learn something new every day
hey guys
im thinking on buying a full film photography cam in september!
but since im a newbie with shooting rolls i wanted to ask advice on which models or brand would be suitable for a beginner
my budget im willingly to spend on is around 150/200 €$
With film, especially as a beginner, getting anything that's affordable will do great
Specific brands and models doesn't really matter all that much. Just make sure that they can use the popular film that's out there as some camera's can be a little picky still with what kind of film you have to put in there
But I doubt you'll find those
So anything cheap will do wonders already
gotcha
cuz rn i got that olympus lens ofc so i was thinking what if i just find the body instead
but not sure if i want that in terms of costs
I used to own an olympus om1 , any of the om cameras in good / excellent condition will do
lmao so my friend went to the lightsum busking the other day
here you go

if you wanna see the madness we have to do in korea
I think the two in the middle are dafttaengk
I know the sony one isn't because they don't shoot sony
really tall one is bamp 8k I see him all the time I recognize that setup a mile away
guess all the cammers are using r5c's now
yeah
oh I forgot to send that photo

took this one time at music bank
can see the same backpack and tripod plus same mic
idk all of the ones there but
yeah bamp 8k on right
that's dafttaengk
man I wish my friend took this photo from an angle like i'm curious what he's shooting with the most
one of them is z a m
rest idrk
but yeah all the big fancam channels use shit like this
degen af
Do they get paid from youtube ?
