as well as incentivize people to buy American and eventually incentivize companies to bring manufacturing back into the United States

Here in the midwest, most of the refineries aren't even setup to refine the light crude oil that the US extracts, it's mostly setup for heavy crude Canadian oil.

And like a significant portion of US housing depends on Canadian lumber and steel, and much of US manufacturing depends on their steel and aluminum and copper.
