A few years ago, I think Canada tried to pull off something like that with a wartime act being triggered for a protest, and they started locking up bank accounts and confiscating money without due process, and in just a few days there was so much business uproar that they reversed it within a handful of days. It's very dangerous to do that and not piss off big money.
I saw that one happen in real time because the company I work with also threatened to pull capital out of Canada through back channels.

Most companies aren't all directly owned by one person instead of, you know, the usual stakeholders or whatever. In a way Elon brought this on himself by inserting his god complex into all of his companies instead of having a degree of detachability in them

Employers gaining this data and deciding not to hire you because they don't like the political party you support or some hobby they have a personal bias against and think people who do it are werid (while making sure to note offically the reason is you lack the skills required for the job). Anything related to the police / prosecutions where the data causes them to take actions according to their personal biases that they would not have done had they not had access to it.
