Frieren ep 4 ||really was painful yet cute seeing how awkward it was, so many new sides to fern seeing her feel genuinely awkward and laughing. Kudos to her for pointing out they always end up talking about frieren, would do good for them to talk about each other. 2nd half of the ep was such a whiplash, really continues to show how great they are at going back and forth between the coziness and action pack scenes. very similar premise to a lot of other harem stuff out there recently though where you have 3-5 girls with very similar origins/circumstances. think mayonaka, quintessential, etc.

I finally got around to finish my rewatch of Spice and Wolf 2008-2009 S1 and S2 and OVA
it's amazing how well it has aged both in animation and in voice acting and vibe
as I've gotten older, I can absorb so much more of it all
it's a shame Passione's remake of it took a more ............. modern approach where there are random quips and well, a more moe version of Holo overall
but they are at least finally going to adapt past the original with season 2 coming up

IF you decide to rewatch it, I believe the best encode with the best subs on nyaa are the [Spirale] release for both seasons, and [WSE] Spice and Wolf OVA for the OVA that comes right in between s1 and s2.

yeah there was a later bluray release of it from Japan as a boxset, and this particular encode fixes some of the issues with the artifacting and banding in the colours. Thorough fansubs based on official subs are usually better typeset and have better transitions too.
as you can imagine, earlier releases for a 2009 show were not particularly pretty especially in early bluray years just as 1080p was becoming the standard 😄

(i read the manga, havent watched the anime)
seeing connor watch it and like it was pretty interesting, so i decided to read the wikipedia
turns out the tournament/exam thing he hated that i rememdered being a tiny arc in the manga was made bigger(like multiple episodes for every fight)
and the villain arc was made significantly shorter ( one of my favourite parts of the manga and where a lot of the bad guys get great moments)

it is overall a pretty good shonen that worth seeing through to the if the end of s3 was interesting to you
