one piece is similar, the pacing does get worse later on but at its very best the anime > manga
the manga is more consistent but the anime reaches higher peaks
it's just hard for a manga to outdo a good anime adaptation in general
music voice acting and animation just make the creation so much more full
there are definitely a good chunk of shows that fail to meet that but for the most part the majority of good mangas that get an adaptation are usually fine

like there are some obvious bad ones like opm after s1, promised neverland after s1, tokyo ghoul, etc.
but for the most part i wouldn't say that's the case
novels on the other hand, now that's when things get very different
even with a really good anime adaptation, there are still so many upsides to checking out the novel from the beginning
the great thing about manga is if i'm constantly on the move or i'm lazy i can just read
cause watching anime do be a time consuming thing

off the top of my head.... Death Note was like that, the newer antagonists were added because editors were pushing for it, like near and mello, and ohba eventually caved
older mangas are very famous for it, like jojo and dragon ball, with editors being very hands on with their suggestions and demands on where to take the story
the entirety of the mass casualties in naruto's later arcs were all editors asking for it
kishimoto didn't want to kill off nearly that many

other examples of resistance were also big mangakas like togashi with hxh and rumiko with inuyasha iirc
oh and love hina when it was on weekly shonen mag, the editors wanted a LOT more ecchi, but he wanted every suggestive bit to be directly related to character growth or relationship development, and basically rewrote things just to spite the editors asking for fanservice lol

man overlord is really one of the weirdest series for me in the anime in general
such an interesting world with interesting characters yet the plot somehow manages to be just ok
every single season
it doesn't help that it takes way too long for them to get into the meat of the series which is with the otherworlders that are still in the game
