||I think people just need to realize that eren is not a good person, he was tasked with the choice of saving his people or the rest of the world, and he chose the former, he's not a genius mastermind like lelouch, he's just a tantrum throwing child who wants to protect his loved ones. And I think that's really beautiful in how they tie it back to who he is.||
the only knock I can put on this finale is ||it was kinda confusing at times because they were jumping all over the place (could've been done smoother for sure), and that mappa fucked up the rollout||

My issue with the ending is mostly how ||for a main character, for very long we didn't know shit about what Eren was doing at all or how was he feeling, until the last chapter. What makes Lelouch's character arc so interesting is not that he's a mastermind genius, is that we see him making decisions, facing consequences and how those hurt him, we see his emotional state with every decision he makes. With Eren we got him acting all mysteriously secretive and evil, almost no focus on his internal emotional distress at all, him being a piece of shit to his friends and turning into a monster just to get a "curtain drop" reveal that he was doing this to protect everyone. I do think the direction the story went is fine, but Eren's "redemption" doesn't work for me mostly because of that, it's an execution flaw||

hmm ||I think the only thing we weren't aware of was that he was trying to make himself the great evil to save his friends. Other than, his motives of wanting to protect the eldians and kill off the rest of the world were very clear. In terms of his feelings, from the start of movie 1 they showed that the weight of killing millions had taken a very clear toll on him. I'm not sure if that was too late for you, but I thought it was great that they showed him as a cold and calculated villain, and slowly unravelled that all this shit had a clear mental strain on him and that he wasn't actually aware of what he was doing. Also I have to add that it really felt like the perspective of the story was more focused on armin/mikasa so it makes sense that we weren't able to see what eren was doing until the last two movies, it really added to the effect of him being a true villain imo which is beautiful. Like I mentioned before my only issue with execution was the time jumps where they showed eren's conversations with armin, it definitely could've been executed better but time-related stuff is usually pretty messy so it didn't bother me too much||
