Nothing here seems like a bug, so there's nothing to rectify. The guildmaster position would have been transferred to them either expressly by the former GM, or it would have passed to them naturally if the GM idled out and there were no other accounts eligible for the role. In any event, once a new GM is instated, they're free to do as they please with the guild

Thanks for your response. I still find it incredibly harsh that this kind of thing happens in the game, given that many guild players end up being affected by a situation beyond their control.

Being kicked out of the guild for this type of movement where a new account takes control of the guild you are part of overnight

Well that's just it - a new account didn't "take control". The former guildmaster opted to make that account the new one in control.

You can't really "take control" of a guild, unless literally every other account within that guild idles out
