Although I don't know what your ban was about, there are certain things that although you can lift the Market ban with an appropriate purchase, the Leaderboard ban stays in effect.

So leaderboard bans can't be lifted unless it turns out the original one was given in error or similiar.
They recently made some adjustments to the leaderboard ban system to make it clearer when you had one, is it possible you were given one when you got the market ban and just didn't know?

I mean ultimately what made you get a market ban? Certain ones won't trigger a leaderboard ban but others will (depends if you got an advantage from it really)

They very rarely issue a full on game ban unless it was something really egregious.
Based on your claim that you used illegal third party software, I'd say that is one of the things that is absolutely a permanent leaderboard ban, and something you would have received both a rankings AND a market ban for.

Making a purchase only removes the market ban portion of your ban. It does not absolve you, and does not remove the leaderboard ban. You were not likely banned a second time. They never removed the leaderboard ban from the first time.

They just recently (with the 14.2 patch) made it much more obvious on your profile that you are leaderboard banned by showing your investments as 0. That does not mean it did not exist before, just that it's much more apparent.

So context - player was banned for trade botting. Asked for an explanation, had it provided. Appealed, we looked into the ban to verify it, confirmed the misconduct, appeal was denied. They've continued to file ticket after ticket pushing the matter after being repeatedly told their appeal was denied and the answer was final that we've had to just treat them as spam.

Also to be clear, this is just a leaderboard ban. Player paid off their market ban, so that was lifted. Leaderboard ban stayed because it always does.

There was an issue with leaderboard bans not showing properly until not too long ago. My guess is it just finally caught up to you

And using illegal 3rd party software always results in both a market AND a leaderboard ban. You would not have only been market banned for tradebotting. It would have resulted in both. Only the market ban portion can be lifted.

You aren't. That's what you seem to be failing to understand.

You cheated and got caught .The penalty for that is a market ban and a leaderboard ban. Both of those were applied at the same time. You were told you could pay off the market ban, which you did. That doesn't mean you also remove the leaderboard ban. That one stays no matter what, because there's no way to undo the advantage cheating gave you, so you can't be allowed to place on the leaderboard any more.
