Devs have confirmed the negative energy thing is only supposed to apply to On The House tokens (to fix the exploit), and the fact that it’s applying to small talk failures as well is a bug which they will fix as soon as possible.

The update this morning included a change so now energy goes into the negative if you fail on your small talk, etc. According to Kabam Richard, this was an intentional change. So, please change it back.

Totally agree would have been acceptable if the OTH token also allows energy overspilll... and the fact that is affecting smalltalk is just horrbile.... but at least it is confirmed to be a bug. I do not understand why they didnt just make the decline subtract all th energy that the OTH gave and lave it capped at 0. It really feels like they wanted to punish players for an "exploit" that they created themselves.... if this does not get fixed i am forced to quit the game as i am barely using market and my entire playstyle has just been ruined.

The change for the on the house token was made due to an exploit where people could generate energy out of nowhere with it. That is why they had to make a change. The change went a little over the top and that it affects small talk too will be fixed

part of the exploit was to decline the customer after using on the house if I recall correct. So jen would be right they could use it forever

The fact that players are literally quitting the game over this negative energy thing should kinda ring some bells.... leave the 0 energy cap alone! you can fix it by makig the decline button simply subtract energy that was given by OTH token!!! No need to mess with 0 energy cap and introduce gameplay breaking bugs!!

Accenerally selling kingbait and getting into negative energy, that is a completely new mechanic and gameplay breaking if your goal is to be able to 1 tap surcharge items in lategame, are 2 completely different things. Kingbait was not changed. Energy was changed and its having a exclusively negative effect. There is no upsides to this change at all.

right, you appear to be misunderstanding me. i'm not in favor of negative energy- i think rather they should just make the oth button the same as a sell button and insta-give the customer the item, no takebacks.

I get your logic. But hear me on this. You can make your kingbait. Sure it will take resource and hardwork but you can do it.

You can't make tokens though. It is only available through events.

when you sell an item that would be worth several hundred million to the king, but instead you sell it for 35 million to a random store visit, it's a bit more annoying than losing an oth token, which you get a ton of every month. - at least imo

What really is annoying is that they introduce the OTH token.... then relize that it is bugged.... blame the player for "exploiting" base function of game like declining customer... and then introduce a gameplay breaking new mechanic that makes players rage quit the game, to make it worse during a better deals event because ofc it get released bugged and does not work as intended.... that is really what is annoying! Selling King bait is own fault.... this energy thing is not players fault but still majorly messes things up.....

well yeah they could obviously have left the people (who knows how many) exploiting the tokens, that were and the people who didn't know about the exploit wouldn't have noticed that. i don't know the numbers of players who did use that exploit (activly exploiting or not knowing it was an exploit) but kabam wouldn't have made a change, if they thought it wasn't needed. so i would guess the number of people using that exploit was high enough.
i am fine with the change on the token and the issue with small talk will hopefully be fixed soon.

I'd more say Kabam changes these things more when they think it threatens a revenue stream and they think the blowback will be lower than the losses they perceive from not making a change. In this case, maybe the design flaw use proliferated far enough that they thought there was tangible impact to people avoiding buying gems to upgrade the shop (T13 in particular requires a silly amount of shop upgrades to work with well...so might explain why they chose now to fix it).
I think we're saying the same thing, just maybe a different starting point in terms of purpose.
I figured they'd eventually change this, but didn't necessarily know for sure. It's nice to have different methods to play the game. The exploit wasn't free - it still came at a cost of lowered XP, so it's still a trade off. Some people were ok with that tradeoff for more gold, some weren't. People who really like crafting appreciated the ability to build more items too. And energy in general is what makes this game stand out and makes it unique. Technically how most of us do discounting fodder to surcharge other things was also an unexpected design flaw, so it's interesting to see which ones they save and which they eliminate.

This was patched out a fair while back 😛
I was using it as a reference that when it comes OTH tokens Kabam always patches out anything exploit-y with them. Sometimes it may take them a couple of patches after being reported but they get whacked

LCOG ended and still no fix. I thought they were waiting for LCOG to end so that it wouldn't be an event reset again.
Are we really going to wait a month like it was previous bug? I am holding a lot of items rn and i'm not even playing the game anymore only doing fusions because everytime i miss 3 smalltalks in a row and have to discount t10s... This is killing the game. I'm not even waiting for other bugs because i know they will not fix but the negative energy bug is an emergecy...
Also we lost Better deals and had no compensation at all. What is happening with this game?
