Ive been trying to learn all about producing my own music but i can never make the vocals and guitar (and other instraments) sound like they are in the same room… and i just strugle with production in general. Dose anybody have a tips or youtube videos to recomend for production?

Hi. If I had that problem I will try sending all the instruments to a parallel bus and do compression there and subtle room reverb, maybe saturation in dorden to glue togheter those signals and then dial in the parallel of this to see if it gives me that result. You'll have to filter that parallel and adjust a lot, but mainly that can be achieve with this parallel technique. Hope it helps!

Other way to look a it at a more abstract level is to imagine what would happen in the room if the instruments were playing together and draw conclusions regarding acoustic behavior and then translate that into technical decisions.

What makes instruments sound like they’re together is the reverb, tone of the reverb, and dynamics, more specifically transients. Be careful with this because you can easily overdo it, but research what glue bus compression is. Adding a reverb on your bus can be helpful aswell. I’ve never tried them in parallel. I don’t think that would be too effective because the point of the compression is to affect the transients, so blending in a dry signal is missing the point. Also for verb just turn down the wet level
