Like if you were to reskin the Vindicator as a SturmTiger thatd be okay because ut just changes the looks, but if you were to download an “Artillery” mod (Pantouflee or Meadsy did a video on this) that’d be considered cheating because it changes your sights on ATGM’s to a top down view, exactly like how WoT PC has for their artillery

Replays are still better. Can tell you more or how that spot got hit, like the angle it was at and who did the shot and whether you could’ve bounced it by angling or if that was no use. Seeing it in the garage doesn’t tell enough for me, and not as useful as just seeing the replay

It’s far from trivial and also far from necessary unless you aim for being the best Blitz gamer

And if you know where you got hit from you can work out where it penned, even if you don't have hit markers turned on. It isn't hard to realise what part of your tank is the weakest, and even if you find it hard then just play more games and learn from repetion that sidescraping at 30° isn't good in a VK72 for example, and ofc you can see reds making the same mistakes and steal positions, angles etc from then. If you have enough commitment to watch replays to work out where you got penned then it's easier to have a quick look an armour inspector. Hell even somethimes if I'm driving a new tank that I haven't had time to look at much I'll have armour inspector open on my phone to look at shots.

Also, you failed to take into consideration that there isn't always just one spot the enemy can penetrate, and that there is little to tell you where they actually shot you. Add a bit of RNG and troll armour and you can end up suffering from penetrations where you wouldn't usually expect it

It tells you the area where you could have been hit rather than where you got hit exaxtly which is better for learning. It doesn't matter knowing exactly which is all watching a replay will do, what matters is knowing how to correct it which replays won't help with only armour inspector and learning of positions.

This isn't a debate about what is most effective for learning, this was about one guy asking for hit markers to stay on so he can look where he got shot and you saying that if he doesn't know that when he gets shot things are wrong.

I vehemently disagree with that point of view, it's normal to not know where you've been hit,

and the hit marks actually serve the important purpose of telling you if you accidentally exposed a vulnerable part of your tank or if the enemy just got lucky against all odds.
Especially since it's hard to judge in the heat of battle what went wrong the hitmarks undoubtably tell you what happened to the shots fired at you or the enemy.

I digress, if you don't know where you've been hit/ penetrated you are not doing anything wrong, and there is nothing wrong with that. As I said earlier, only extremely good players or those who want to be have the understanding of mechanics and the knowledge of both their armour model and the enemy's penetration as well as the experience to know how the enemy sees them to confidentially judge where or how they've been penetrated. That knowledge is excessive for anyone who plays casually or just normally, really, and there is no reason to expect it.

When you get hit you can tell where the shot came from. From there you can work out which section of armour or hit. You should know when you are close to exposing vulnerable parts otherwise you are taking things extremely risky, and it isn't hard to work out what your tank is doing. They serve a slight purpose but thought and planning can easily make up for that.

If you are being hit and you don't know where from then that is something wrong. Like I said the target is for every single hit to be calculated and thought about, and if you aren't there then you are doing something wrong. If you aren't going to look into the armour models etc then you have no reason to care about where you got hit whether you look at it from a replay, in battle or in the garage. If you want to see where you got hit in the garage, then you need knowledge of armour models to do anything with that, and then from that you can tell what you make mistakes about in battle.

You don’t look from directly behind your tank so it’s actually hard to tell how much the enemy sees. You don’t have to play risky to overexpose accidentally.

And no, you are not doing something wrong if you don’t analyse every single part of it, it’s perfectly fine to just look at the hit markers and then deduct how good the armour plates are. No need to actually go look at armour models or likewise. It’s a way easier and more deterministic method of finding out if what you’re doing is actually what you think the enemy sees you doing and it does not mean that if you look into it you absolutely have to look into all other stats as well

Or to put it simple, the hit marks give you knowledge about the armour model. There is no need to actually know the armour model to do anything with the hit marks

And again, this wasn’t actually about how useful hitmarks are. Quite frankly, if you don’t want them don’t use them, but there is no need to use other statistics and models just because you have an interest in the hit marks. You are literally arguing that everyone should aim to know every detail of the game and become the best player. I wonder why? It’s a game, not a competition, and there is nothing wrong with just playing casually and ignoring most of the information available. I don’t understand why people don’t tolerate other motivations than theirs and call it ‘wrong’ to not strive for that. It’s not wrong to play Blitz like a newbie even after 10k games. It’s also not wrong to play it like a try harder. If you like it everything is right and the game is fulfilling its purpose. And in this case specifically: No, it’s not wrong to not know where you’ve been hit, it’s perfectly normal

It really isn't hard to move the camera to see what the reds see or imagine what it looks like from previous battles where you have been in the opposite position. If you want to know where you are making mistakes then you look at armour models, and if you don't then you don't care about hit marks. If you don't want to even try then there are plenty of training rooms and lower tiers. If you are at higher tiers and play like a bot then you are ruining other people's games and that is something you need to think about. It is perfectly right to play as you wish. It is a game after all, and if you want to play competitively you should look into game modes where you can actually expect that.

Aside from that, armour models aren't the only way of learning this game, and you can do just as well with analysing the hit marks since they actually include the experience and shooting habits of your enemies and thus give you a better idea how to protect yourself

It is obvious that things that break the ToS and are specifically aimed at ruining other people's experiences are excluded.

And no it's not acceptable to play how you want, there are things called human decency, thoughtfulness and the ToS. The armour models are by far the best and easiest way to work out what you have been doing wrong and what to do better

Armour models are not the easiest way of learning. They can only give you suggestions how to play a tank if you have a general idea of the pen of different tanks and of basic game mechanics. And even then it's only suggestions. Learning by doing or making experiences is way easier and does not require any added effort other than playing, and just by looking at the hitmarks you get a better idea what the enemy has been doing, thus adding to your experience, unlike the armour models which are way more theoretical and actually require you to have other knowledge before you can use them

Your statement about how "players" get joy is highly questionable, especially since a lot argue that most get joy by winning, and a victory is a victory, regardless of who was in which team. It is especially dubious considering that most of the epic battles you get to see are against rather bad enemies, and since people send them they at least seem to be proud or happy about them

Im an experienced medium player 35k battles /53wr and I have a pretty good idea of my armor. But having that closeup opportunity would be really nice for getting better w my tank

What’s too hard in a replay? Feels the same as viewing in the garage. I can just pause the replay and look all around the tank. The replay also gives more info on how the hit occurred, than just seeing where I was penned and not knowing how it happened. If you have the time to spare to load up the replay, you could also just go to the end of a replay and view all the shell hitmarks. I don’t find it so necessary for WG to bother with making it visible after battles too.
Also, tanks get repaired after battle, so wouldn’t shell holes get removed 🤔

I don't know where game-mode ideas belong, so I'll just put this one out here...

If WG makes a gamemode that would be more beneficial to mediums I’d say it should be one where all tanks shoot lasers and the higher the caliber the longer the laser lasts. The laster has infinite penetration so just point and click for effect on target. Also, all lasers deal the same damage, the higher caliber tanks just deal more damage by having a longer period of damage dealing. The laser could act like HEAT shots in quick succession with very low damage (20-50) and and with perfect accuracy, though it would be cooler if a more realistic laser design could be implemented. It travels as fast as shells can travel in this game (because, you know, light). Aside from that all tanks get special consumables like a shield for heavies (lasts 10 seconds), a laser device for tds (that increases the duration of the laser by 20%), a dash (for mediums) and an engine boost for lights

T26E4 has never been nerfed, it's just people are only now realizing that it can be shot in the front hull. In fact, T26E4 was buffed since you used to be able to shoot through the mantlet and now you can't.

T26E4 has always been bad pretty much, back in the beginning of the game the gun was the factor holding it back, 171mm or so was it's average penetration, nowadays it's just too slow, and has too many weakspots

The turret roof is not that hard to hit and it’s really weak. Its easy to avoid the spaced armour on the turret. Many tanks will be starting to have enough penetration to go through the front of the hull, which you pretty much cannot angle at all because it has terrible side armour.

@honest lily You already can pen the lower plate. You only need like ~200mm of pen to melt through it, even though it says it's red. Same goes for the upper plate, and you only need like 180mm pen to go through the drivers hatch on the upper plate too

It’s combat XP mentioned on the box. Combat XP doesn’t get affected by platoons. It’s just the base XP, so it doesn’t matter if you’re in a platoon or not

I do not want to get myself muted, so will not mention the actual game in question. Suffice to say, one game before this became my go-to-game for now... is a game that has an option to create a 2 4 or 6 player game.
You select the map to play on and you can also select other parameters like, duration of the game, use of certain ammo or not etc etc .
This allows those 2 4 or 6 players all to be mic'd up. No one gets re-invited if they start insulting, cussing other players. That kind of sh*t talk is no way to run a platoon on. How bad would it be, if say 3 could platoon in a group of 7. At least the 3 would look after each other, coordinate tactically and hopefully ..... bottom line here have more fun in the process. WG would only need to facilitate the option.

I am sure that the three/4 guys would have a lot of fun... but chances are that only people with similar skill will play in a platoon. So chances are that like half the platoons will consist of either very bad or very good players. And that would mean that half the games are steamrolls unless by some miracle the platoons are evenly matched or the other half of the team that is at a disadvantage can make up for their platoon. There would be no issue if all platoons would be completely random, but they are not and by that the likelihood that both teams are more or less equal most of the time will be reduced the larger the portions of the teams the platoons make up. If we get that option i predict more steamrolls than ever and winrates up to 80% and sometimes even beyond as a more regular occurrence

I'm not looking forward to the release of the cent 5/1, the armour profile on blitzhangar seems way too strong
They've given it very strong cheeks, so you will need over ~250mm of pen to go through them, unlike on the tech tree centurion 1 where the cheeks are incredibly weak
They've also fixed the mantlet. On the tech tree centurion 1, a large part of the mantlet has 0mm of armour behind it (lol). Not so on the 5/1

Cruise control utilities a clever system that regulates your engine to keep your TANK driving at a set speed ie for the Matilda BP 20 but will differ if going up and down a hill etc . It's a system that you have to manually activate, (ie TWO TAPS OF THE W KEY on keyboards - to release press the w key again)

If you take track damage - you will of course stop.

This option should be enabled / disabled via the settings menu as seen ie white rectangular box.

Would benefit those tank that have a very slow speed. Going 20 km/h or so and having to press the W key constantly whilst making SLOW forward progress is tiresome.

Same for tanks like the AT series and anything slow.

I have had 6 tier 6 tanks and I was tier 5 - same on the other side. I must be playing poorly then, when two ARL 44 come saying hello at me in a PZ IV G lol They two alone are mighty tanks - not sure if the match making reflected that or the team I was on inc me just suck badly lol

Not asking for an easy game - but competitive game. Seems when the tiers are that mixed a high % of the time its comes to an defeat. Ok - learn to play better - well that is the intention - but it sure can blow out the enthusiasm, hopeful only in the short term

Sake of variation - there should be enough in any tier without having to mix them to get a good competitive game???

@wise nova PC sounds would take a lot of time to implement, you can turn to mods for the sounds if you’re on steam, or android I think. As for the veterans role, my best bet would be to Ping an online moderator and see if they can help. You need at least 25,000 battles and 50%+ wr, though

It’s a slur that people find offensive, so of course it would be both censored in game and moderated here

Because the censor filter is a bit underwhelming a lot of words that are not offensive get censored as well because they might include offensive words (Wargaming actually recently-ish reworked the whole censoring filter and now it works better in filtering only offensive words and some bypasses around it). This resulted in funny situations when you for example couldn’t say “Schwarz” which is “Black” in German but you also mustn’t bypass the filter according to the game rules. So in the end you would write instead of “The camouflage is black” “The camouflage is [censored]” so whichever adjective you used there was down to anyone’s imagination 🤣

Hi please delete the thing that shows progression on tank modules, I do not care f I have enouh exp to research the 2nd engine if I have the 3rd. I do not care if I can research a gun I dont want. Its very annoying that I cant see the amount of exp that tank has unless I click on the tech tree tab. I prefer it to be how it was before that update. Its also really frustrating that if you tap the tank module research page you immidiatly get put on the module with the least exp neccesary. Pls remove or add a setting to turn this off
