My main problem isn't the bad players, it's that you can have almost 0 battles, buy a tier 10 collector, and play Ratings. I don't mind if it's randoms but Ratings seems rather unreasonable imo

I’m pretty sure the majority of people who play rating to get a higher rating to obtain rewards would 100% agree with me that having statistically bad players that have minimum knowledge of the game playing a ranked game mode is bad and like shooter is saying, nothing stops a new player that gets the game, plays it for an hour, gets bored, buys a VK90 that’s in the shop, sees a ranked battle mode and thinks “Oh good I can play a ranked game mode to get better” but instead they play the game mode, do 400 damage and ruin the teams ability to play

It’s just a hard zone to pass as it’s quite a high rating, so what happens is you get much longer queue times so the match maker becomes more lenient with the process, so it means you’ll get wildly varied teams
I was at 4,7k and was getting players at 2,8 on my team and some players over 5,000 on the other team and stuff, even players who haven’t calibrated

but it's during that time that you put your big boy pants on and carry hard

@runic hollow Farming damage is not a good way of distributing points in the slightest. If you do something useful like actual effective damage, you will win more and will gain points to show that. If you sit at the back farming off your team for damage, you will lose more because you are much less useful and you should never be rewarded for that. The current points system is distributed fairly. The only way it is not good is because it is biased so it's too hard to loose points so you can just spam battles to go up and up and up.

i think the current system is mostly fine, just need to tweak some things, like give ppl who do really bad but win like 0-5 pts and not the 10-20, and the ppl who do really well but lose like 15-25 pts and not the 0-15 rn

^^^ at the moment it feels like if you lose a game you only lose about 60% of the points you would have gained if you won. This means even if you play badly and end up with sub-50% WR in ratings you will still go up points, which is rather stupid to me.

What should happen, is that you start at some rating, it increases but flattens out as you start to reach your skill ceiling and them you stay/oscillate around a certain value which is your skill cap.

Your skill cap should be when you are winning 48% if your games, and this should translate to an average gradient of 0 if you made a graph of rating against battles. Unfortunately because you gain so many more points when you win, instead of having a 0 gradient at your skill cap you have a positive gradient so your rating just keeps going up and up until you near the point where you are such a detriment to your team you lose much more than you win balancing out the greater proportion of rewards for winning compared to losing.

Ideally you would have a fixed value (±10 points say) for the winning and losing teams no matter how much damage you did, but that requires too many battles compared to what most of the playerbase would play. Instead, using xp lets the system reduce the amount of games to find a correct rating considerably at the cost of lower accuracy. This part if the distribution of points is fine. The issue is that the overall gain/loss if points is not equal and so it allows people to perform badly and still gain, which then makes playing a few battles well just as good as playing lots of battles badly. This makes comparing players ratings pretty pointless which is the whole idea of a ratings system.

Anyone that plays with me knows I am a team player. I am not saying the amount of damage is the only criteria that should be considered. Most of the people I play with that are 3-4K players are destroyers that sit on the backside and pick people off and do alpha damage because of the work of the people on the front lines allowing them time to do damage. All I am saying, being the team and high damage player that I am, I would expect my rating to be higher than it is. I started off at 3023 and I always end up around 2.5K and have to work my way back up to around 2.9K. I see opposing team people that are terrible with 3.5K or higher and they continue to get their points. I think a lot of it has to do with the vehicle I use the most, Chimera, because I saw droodles say something about what vehicles you should use to jump the ratings the fastest, I think his was a T28 destroyer. Anyways, I know the rating is not accurate pertaining to my game play. Not saying I am the best player and I am always quick to admit when someone is better.

If you start off at 3k rating, and then drop down to 2.5k rating, I think that's a you problem, and you are probably overestimating your own skill. Damage isn't the most important thing, doing damage that helps your team is, so just because you did 3000 dmg one game doesnt mean you did great, you probably just camped while your team died. Also, whatever droodles said about the tanks in ratings is complete bs

On Asia there’s usually less then 20 people in Queue at any one time, it’s not uncommon to see 2,500 if you have 4,8k plus, the dead zone from 4,6-4,9 on Asia is so horrific because of that, lack of players make the match maker more lenient and then we don’t get ratings match making, just the Match Maker trying to put people anyway to get a battle going

@rose path That means you've got to your skill cap roughly. It's possible (but less likely) that you have just had an unlucky run, but again most people don't play enough games in a day for stats to average out so people are always complaining about small lose streaks.

For instance today I played 33 rating games and won 12. I think I went down about 30-40 points in total. I'm probably nearing my skill cap, and also being dragged down by playing the E25 for the camo, but mostly it was me playing meh.

Hey! This is for those who play rating and don't want to use prammo, nor learn what it is and play rating.
In rating (imho) Prammo is a must. So please learn what prammo is/what it can do. It is most wise to use it when you can't pen enemies with normal shells. You also can use it when you want to make sure you pen the tank (More pen).
If you can't do that much, then don't mind me reporting you.

Whats premium ammo? The only ammo I use is HE because it is the cheapest and has the highest potential damage. Standard rounds are just too expensive.

Atm i am at 4900 rating. When you are at rating near 4k you will meet people who are at near gold users, but mostly plat/Diamond. These players have 1 thing in common is that they know how what the frik to do with their tanks to an extend.
