Yeah so here is my conclusion about calibration:
70% depends on the win or loss
20% about damage
10% about assist damage
So my conclusion is that the calibration counts around 80% on the team. If you win 10 times because you're team is better than the enemy team, you will start at 4000+. If you lose 10 times you will start at 2000+. @thorn portal

What is wrong is that the fate of a battle is too often decided during the 1st minute and it only takes one player that misinterprets the lineups and 3 other players that follow him. The teams are somewhat matched in skill levels so if the other side doesnt make such a big mistake theres a high chance half of your team gets butchered while the rest are in a useless position. I'd rather play randoms because you can count on the enemy to make random mistakes as well. The unpredictability in randoms becomes a positive.
I dont think this would be such a noticeable problem if the convergence wasnt so high. Ranks would be more uniform and your teammates would better match your skill level as well. Too bad theres just not enough players to keep that up.
It was a reality for a short period when ratings were introduced and were available only for two tiers. After expanding the mode to 4 tiers and not maintaining the incentive for it to stay popular theres just less players for the mode which means a wider spectrum of players with different skill entering battles of a certain tier.
For me, it doesnt make sense to grind to diamond if a 47%er can still join the battle.

Correct me if im wrong but a higger rank should mean players of higher caliber. Its natural to win less in ratings. But it should be about which team plays better, not whose teammate makes the biggest mistake. Theres a difference.
I'd rather lose in a game knowing everyone still played well than win in a game where the enemy team made an amateurs mistake and the game lasts two and a half mins. Less skilled players simply dont have patience and are unpredictable in a way that can get them killed just because they wanted to rush to get a kill for example.
As a consequence you dont get games that have time for any deeper strategic situations to develop. It turns into the same 'one group' tactics seen in tier 4.

What im after is that theres a big difference between two uniform teams of the same caliber of players versing eachother and a team of ppl that dont match in skill level or even understand their role versing another one like it.
The probability of just one or two teammates making the game-losing mistake is bigger in the latter one. Even though the teams in ratings are somewhat equal lower skill level players are simply more volatile and unpredictable to have as a part of any kind of team no matter how similar it is to the enemy team.

If you're in higher ratings, then matchmaker tries to put you with players in same/similar rating. If it fails, then you'll get some really bad players or totally random players who do calibration. Outcome - you can end up in battle with one good player in your team - and bunch of 40% players. Opposite team can have also two good players, but instead of 40% they actually might have get better players. I guess WG don't care, no one care. So that's why I play with HE only. Have fun. Oh yeah if someone thinks I'm noob, I was on 6th place in rated battles.

How do you get certain camos? My first rating was 2666 (silver) then got to 3.2k (gold) i keep hearing and seeing people get camos for this, and i usually recalibrate after 60 days, does this mean i have to play ratings a lot?

You have to get to 4000 rateing and have played at least 50 battles in a tank. Then you will get a camo on that tank at end of season. You can get a camo for ea tier if you play at least 50 battles in a tank. You might have to play 50 battles above 4K in the tank. I’m not positive

I calibrated to 3.2 because I tried to play charioteer like a hero. This was before I realized progression is more to do with damage than winning a lot. If you go up 50 points on a win and down 12 points in a loss eventually you’ll make it even if your team RNG gets you 50% wins

I hated that! I played a team game winning 8 from ten only to calibrate at 3800 with a friend winning 7 and calibrating at 4100 because he played for damage...easier to progress but discourages teamwork

@wanton whale seems legit for me. More you do—more points you get. Team should cooperate, but if you feel that your team isn’t doing well, what else you could do? Rush like a moron? No. You have to focus on your damage, on spotting or caping bases. Sometimes this is the best thing you can do for your team—because it’s not always about your teammates think you should do, but what do you feel you should do. Of course not always :)

I still don't understand the idea behind ratings having 4 tiers. In my opinion and I think many people agree that tier 10 is the most balanced tier in the game at this point in time so why give the chance for overpowered premiums in tiers 8 and 7 to destroys tech tree tanks and climb the ranks much easier then someone at tier 10. I don't think they'll remove tier 8. Tier 8 Premiums make up a large part of the tank usage in that tier, and they'll want to keep tier 8 an option so people will buy premiums they can actually use in Rating Battles. That's just my thought.

Reading the news again, I think you will be able to play only one tier per battle, so you cant be bottom or lower tier never. So if you play tier 8 you can only face tier 8 tanks, next battle you can choose tier 9 and fight again only tier 9 and etc

tier 8 is one of the most unbalanced tiers there is. It would be logical that reaching diamond league would be harder when everyone's in the same tier because that's how it should be, better players place higher then less skilled ones, that is what ELO system is all about

@grizzled heart From what I've read, no one here knows how you get the camos. So here.
You must play 50 battles in a certain tier to get a camo. You get the camo on one tank per tier, as long as you played 50 Battles. If you played 50 battles, and hit at least platinum, the tank you used the most for that tier gets the camo, Here's a example- You played 101 battles in Tier 8 Ratings. 51 in the T49, and 50 in the IS-3. You reached 4597 Rating Points, placing you in Platinum. Since you played more in the T49 than the IS-3, you will get the Platinum Ratings camo in the T49, but not the IS-3. I hope this helps.
Here's my personal stats from the last season. I played 167 Battles in Tier 8 Ranked, and reached 5,014 Rating Points, meaning I finished in Diamond League. As my most played tank in tier 8 was ths WZ-120-1G FT, I'll be getting the Diamond Camo on the WZ, but no other tank I used. @grizzled heart
You have to reach 50 games in a tier to actually get the camo on a tank of that tier. You can't just reach 50 games and get it on every tank you use in Ranked. It would be too easy to get the Ratings Camo on every tank you have over tier 7 in one season if it worked that way.

Hi Wargaming, I'm really unhappy about your decision to make rating battles only available for tier 8. Especially this Tier has such big balance Issues with pay to win tanks like the Obj252U and WZ 120 chinese TD. You are a commercial company which is okay but I think that pay to win has no place in rating battles. Rating battles I believed were there to bring equal skilled players together and have better quality matches aswell as giving frequent players an attraction to achieve a good rank. I would prefer to see rating battles for Tier 10 only. Thanks for paying attention

I understand that people who own these tanks might happy about that decision, but if you just open blitzstars tank compare and look at average winrates of tanks it's obvious that there is some major imbalance between the tanks. I would like to see more variety of tanks in battles and this might help to speed up mm but I don't believe it will improve battle quality

@bronze vine I will lay down what I think is required to be successful in rateings and you can compare yourself to these numbers. 1500-1800 average dmg in your tier 8 vehicle. 55-60% WR in those vehicles. Also I really don’t think you will have the little tricks figured out that you need to know until you have a total battle count of around 10k. This is just my opinion.

Playing T8 ratings will be utterly broken because of the few Atm overpowered tanks.
IMO only T10 rating battles would have given players one more thing to motivate themselves to grind towards T10. Also the gameplay would be more interesting as there wouldn't be so many new players and games would hopefully be more tougher thus more interesting for everyone.
But now my interest in ratings are even smaller than ever before just because T8 is just one of the tiers I despise the most.

Bad things in my opinion about the new system:

No more grinding XP for those that want to keep their stats.

Only one tank a month that can get rewarded with camo, even though some people work very VERY hard to get to certain ratings to achieve the camo on tanks that is not always that strong. Now instead of 4 tanks at different tiers that they can get the reward for, they can only get one tank with the camo but still have to grind the same amount some times.

Some tiers has broken tanks (charioteer) and pay to win tanks (obj252u. wz 120 TD and smasher) that will be spammed and MM will have same tanks over and over. (Also new guys will want to test out the tanks they won in the events and they will not be good in it but they can test it there without worrying about stats. So the EXP for example will be played A LOT in rating with people having no clue how to play them and that goes for the rest of the event tanks or tanks that's bought in store)

MM will be faster but since more people are in one tier in the queue, the amount of uncalibrated players will also be much more, thus getting uncalibrated players in your team and the MM saying its balanced just because you are 5k and the rest in your team is at 3k or uncalibrated makes it balanced against an enemy team with seven 4k players.

so apparently 129 is greater than 320, 2750, and 874 according to the bars on the bottom
the ratings and the battle count add up to the wrong thing (4019 - 320 + 983 + 528 + 256 is not 5002, and ofc the total battles isn't 135)
there are 3 double green/red bars when they should only be green or only be red
it is impossible to play 3k rating battles in a 1 month period (at least at that rating, the wait time is going to be pretty high)
