I know that artillery pieces like having their guns on the back, because they don’t actually carry most of their ammunition and, when set up, some of the operators actually are not in the tank but behind it (the gunner and commander usually remain within for targeting etc.) in order to supply the piece with ammunition from the supply convoy. That’s why artillery pieces have large doors at the back like IFVs, not to carry infantry but to allow the crew to resupply the gun as easily as possible

@thick trout I mean, that would technically work, but if you fire the gun it might ram the ground or push the front of the tank up which would cause all kinds of problems. I could imagine that it would cause extreme wear on the suspension because the front would probably go up a lot when it fires with the last suspension wheel being the turning axis, creating extreme pressure on it and making the tank bounce on the front suspension wheels. To counteract that you’d need anchors which require deployment. Loading would be impossible when in travelling mode, so they’d need to set the tank up specifically for loading which means that it would only be a stationary weapon. Same goes for aiming, but to a lesser degree because you can technically seat the gunner along the barrel (you’d need to elevate his seat too though, or alter his seating angle so he would basically lay when at 90 degrees elevation). It is generally not worth the effort

Depends on play style, most likely you should go for IS-4. Better armor and can be used more universally. IS-7 is a good for hull down only mostly. The key with the IS-7 is to directly face your target because of the plac nose, it can get difficult if you fave multiple targets

A pro won’t do much better than a good player in the IS-4. In the IS-7 however a pro can abuse a lot more weird angles and can set break throughs un a manner that the IS-4 is just incapable of

The IS4 makes up for a lack of skill very nicely but it's skill ceiling isn't that high, the IS7 is more flexible and can be used to a higher standard by a good player but for almost all of the playerbase the IS4 is the best choice

Wargaming didn’t give the FV4005 the 183mm because they realised that the tank would have faced the same issues as the deathstar. Not to mention that having another tank with that caliber of gun would not be good for gameplay.
If it received the 183mm, it would have been in the same predicament that the deathstar is in, which is that it would either be too strong or too weak for its tier.

The original problem with the mobility was that it was far too good at hit and run. It could drop 500 damage, then relocate quickly and repeat - the tank could always control fights with its mobility.
Its mobility had to be toned down, so at least tanks actually have a chance to catch up to it and take advantage of its low DPM.

@storm apex yeah the low tiers do not have much armour. Like the SU-100, most equal tiered and all higher tiered enemies can go through you frontally easily.
Only saving grace for the SU-152 and ISU-152 is the gun mantlet, but its unreliable.
Object 704 and object 268 are better armoured

• Your armour will not save you
• You have no HP.
  The line is very much about the guns, and the tank itself is very vulnerable. You will notice this most with the ISU-152, it has a devastating gun, but weak armour and it only has 1010 HP.

Though, the SU 100 and 85 do have good mobility for a TD, so they are less vulnerable

I’d probably say IS, at least you have better gun handling and significantly more mobility.
IS7 is a solid tank for random battles, but the IS4 is better and more competitive at tier ten.
Also, KV-3 gives a better tier nine heavy with the ST-I.
The stock grind for the KV-4 and ST-I is pretty bad, so if you choose kv3, save up your free xp.
